Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years as on 01/01/2025. The maximum age limits are as follows:

  • Unreserved Male candidates: 37 years
  • Unreserved Female candidates: 40 years
  • Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class candidates: 40 years
  • Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: 42 years
  • Candidates who have completed three years of continuous government service may receive age relaxation of up to five years, subject to applicable rules.
  • Former defence personnel may receive relaxation as prescribed by government rules, subject to the maximum age condition mentioned in the notification.

Eligibility / Qualification

Driver

  • Matriculation or equivalent qualification.
  • Working knowledge of both Hindi and English.
  • Valid Driving Licence for Light Motor Vehicle and Heavy Motor Vehicle.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle safely.

Office Attendant

  • Matriculation or equivalent qualification.
  • Working knowledge of both Hindi and English.
  • Ability to cycle.

Candidates must enter complete and accurate educational and technical qualification details in the online application form. The Matriculation certificate or equivalent certificate will be used for verifying the date of birth.

Admit Card Details

Candidates should use the official Bihar Vidhan Parishad website to access recruitment-related notices and download the admit card when the download link is activated. Candidates should retain their registration details, email ID, mobile number, username, password and application number safely.

After submitting the final application, candidates are instructed to log in and download the filled application form. The filled application should be printed in two copies and preserved along with the documents submitted during the recruitment process.

Candidates appearing for the examination should follow the instructions printed on the admit card and carry the required identity and examination documents. Electronic devices are prohibited inside the examination building.

Selection Process

Driver

The written examination is OMR-based and objective-type. Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be shortlisted for the driving skill and practical test. The practical test will carry 50 marks. Candidates declared unsuccessful in the driving skill test will not be eligible for appointment to the Driver post.

  • Each correct answer carries 4 marks.
  • 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

For the Driver post, candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage based on the written examination marks and the available reservation-wise vacancies. The number of candidates shortlisted may be up to ten times the number of available vacancies. In case of equal marks, the older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list.

Syllabus Details

General Mathematics

The syllabus includes LCM, HCF, natural numbers, rational and irrational numbers, integers, square root, cube root, percentage, profit and loss, discount, sales tax, simple interest, compound interest, time and distance, ratio and proportion, and inverse proportion.

General Knowledge, General Science and Traffic Rules

Important areas include natural resources, forests and wildlife, water resources, agriculture and crops, minerals and energy resources, manufacturing industries, national economy, map study, the Constitution, the federal system, Centre-State relations, languages of India, democracy and diversity, social and religious diversity, political parties, currency and banking, globalisation, trade, economic activities, Indian history, culture, geography, the freedom movement, Panchayati Raj, Bihar's contribution to national movements, nationalism, socialism, science, environment, current events and traffic rules.

General Hindi

The syllabus includes nouns, pronouns, gender, adjectives, adverbs, synonyms, case, idioms, tense, sandhi, antonyms, compounds, proverbs, one-word substitutions, word correction, sentence correction, Tatsama and Tadbhava words, prefixes and suffixes. Questions may also be based on prose and poetry passages from Class 10 textbooks and on authors.

Reservation and Domicile Rules

Reservation benefits based on caste will be available only to candidates who are permanent residents of Bihar. Candidates from outside Bihar will not receive Bihar reservation benefits. The permanent address entered in the online application will be considered for reservation purposes.

Candidates claiming reservation must possess valid certificates issued by the competent authority by the last date of application. Original certificates must be produced during document verification. The notification also specifies requirements relating to caste, domicile, non-creamy layer, Economically Weaker Section and women reservation certificates.

Women candidates claiming caste or non-creamy-layer reservation must generally submit certificates issued in their father's name, as prescribed in the notification. A 35% horizontal reservation for women is applicable as per the state government rules.
