Admit Card Details

Coal India Limited will intimate the date of the Computer Based Online Test through the admit card. The admit card will be made available for download through the candidate's individual login portal on the CIL website. Candidates should regularly visit the official website under the Career with CIL section for admit card updates, examination notices and other recruitment-related communications.

Candidates should carefully verify their name, photograph, roll number, examination date, reporting time, test centre address and examination instructions after downloading the admit card. The responsibility for downloading and printing the admit card rests with the candidate.

The CBT will be conducted at test cities selected in the online application. Candidates could opt for three test cities in order of preference; however, CIL may allot a different test city depending on administrative requirements and the number of applicants.

Age Limit

The upper age limit was 30 years as on 30/04/2026 for General and EWS candidates.

Engineering degrees, MCA, M.Sc. and M.Tech. qualifications must generally be obtained through a regular full-time course from an institution recognized by the appropriate statutory authority in India. Candidates belonging to General, OBC-NCL and EWS categories require at least 60% marks, while SC, ST and PwBD candidates receive a 5% relaxation and require at least 55% marks.

Candidates appearing in the final semester, year or trimester of the required qualification during academic year 2025-26 could apply if they expected to receive their results by 31/08/2026. They were required to upload marksheets up to the latest completed semester, year or trimester.

  • Examination duration: 3 hours in one sitting
  • Each question carries 1 mark.
  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
  • No marks are awarded for unattempted questions.
  • The question paper is bilingual in English and Hindi. In case of any discrepancy, the English version will prevail.

Selection Process

Selection is based only on marks obtained in the Computer Based Online Test. No interview will be conducted for final selection.

For the Company Secretary discipline, a tie in total marks will be resolved by giving preference to candidates who have worked in a listed company. The final merit panel will be prepared on the basis of CBT marks only.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed as Management Trainees in E-1 Grade with a pay scale of ₹60,000–1,80,000 and an initial basic pay of ₹60,000 per month during the training period. After successful completion of one year of training-cum-probation, candidates will be confirmed in E-1 Grade as Officer in the respective discipline.

Eligible benefits include Dearness Allowance, HRA, cafeteria-based allowances, Performance Related Pay, leave, medical facilities, CMPF, CMPS, gratuity and the CIL Executive Defined Contribution Pension Scheme, as applicable under company rules.

Important Instructions for Candidates

  • Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must keep their registered email ID and mobile number active for at least one year.
  • Candidates working in Government departments, PSUs or autonomous bodies must submit an appropriate No Objection Certificate or relieving order as required.
  • Only one online application for one discipline could be submitted by a candidate.
  • Candidates should carry the admit card and other documents mentioned in the examination instructions to the CBT centre.
  • Candidates using a scribe must submit the prescribed scribe certificates as instructed by CIL.
  • CIL will not pay TA/DA for appearing in the CBT.
  • Any false information, forged document, suppression of facts, unfair means or impersonation may lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment from future CIL appointments.
  • The selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India, including subsidiary companies and coalfield areas.
  • A service agreement bond of ₹3,00,000 is required, and the candidate must serve the company for a minimum period of 60 months from the date of joining.
