The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced the pre-registered recruitment rally for Agniveervayu (Musician), Intake 01/2027. The rally will be conducted from 31/08/2026 to 09/09/2026 at New Delhi and Bengaluru for eligible unmarried Indian male and female candidates.

Only candidates who complete online registration and are issued a Provisional Admit Card will be permitted to appear in the recruitment rally.

The application fee is non-refundable and is payable online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI. Candidates declared medically unfit may apply for the Appeal Medical Board by depositing ₹40 through e-MRO/MRO within three working days of the medical examination.

Age Limit

Candidates born between 01/01/2005 and 01/07/2009, both dates inclusive, are eligible. Candidates who qualify all stages must not be more than 22 years of age on the date of enrolment.

Eligibility / Qualification

  • Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates from all districts of all States and Union Territories are eligible.
  • Candidates must have passed Matriculation/10th or equivalent with minimum pass marks from a Central, State or Union Territory Government-recognised school or board.
  • Candidates must possess proficiency in music, including accuracy in tempo and pitch, singing one complete song, performing a preparatory tune and demonstrating any recognised notation system such as Staff Notation, Tablature, Tonic Solfa, Hindustani or Carnatic notation.
  • Candidates must be proficient in playing at least one instrument from List A or List B. Proficiency in two instruments, one from each list, is desirable.

Musical Experience Certificate

Candidates must possess any one of the following:

  • Grade 5 or equivalent or above in one instrument from a recognised music institute such as TCL or RSM, KM Music Conservatory, Bangalore School of Music, TSM, GMI or Berklee School of Music.
  • Diploma or equivalent in music from a recognised university for candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical Music.
  • Certificate of participation or awards from various musical events, with performance or playing of blowing instruments using staff notation as prescribed in the educational requirements.

Weight must be proportionate to height and age as applicable to the Indian Air Force. Candidates with a history of LASIK or PRK are not accepted. Female candidates found pregnant during medical examination will be disqualified.

Admit Card Details

  • Candidates must download and carry a colour printout of the Provisional Admit Card to the assigned recruitment rally venue.
  • The admit card will mention the reporting date, time and venue allotted by CASB.
  • Candidates must indicate two venue preferences during registration; however, CASB reserves the right to allot any venue, which may differ from the candidate’s preference.
  • Requests for a change of rally venue, examination centre or selection-test date will not be entertained.
  • Candidates must report strictly according to the date, time and venue printed on the Provisional Admit Card.
  • Candidates must also carry a colour printout of the completed online application form and the Aadhaar Card shown on the admit card. Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Assam and Meghalaya who do not possess Aadhaar may carry another valid photo identity proof.
  • Mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic devices are prohibited in testing areas. Candidates found carrying such devices may be permanently debarred.

PFT-II is conducted after a recovery break following PFT-I. Candidates should bring sports shoes and shorts or track pants.

English Written Test

  • Objective-type paper in English.
  • 30 questions from English at the Matriculation/10th CBSE level.
  • Duration: 30 minutes.
  • Answers are marked on an OMR sheet.
  • One mark is awarded for each correct answer.
  • No marks are awarded for unanswered questions or questions with more than one answer marked.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • Candidates must qualify the English paper; the result is declared on the same day.

Music Proficiency Test

Candidates who qualify the English Written Test will undergo an individual or group Music Proficiency Test in playing musical instruments. Candidates must bring their instrument from the permitted List A or List B.

Documents to Carry

Candidates must carry the following documents, wherever applicable:

  • Colour printout of the Provisional Admit Card.
  • Colour printout of the completed online application form.
  • Eight recent, unattested passport-size colour photographs taken within one month, with the candidate holding a black slate displaying their name and photograph date in white chalk.
  • Original or DigiLocker-verified printout and four self-attested photocopies of the 10th passing certificate and mark sheet.
  • Original musical experience certificate and four self-attested photocopies.
  • Aadhaar Card or other permitted valid photo identity proof.
  • NCC A, B or C Certificate, if applicable.
  • COAFP Certificate or applicable service/discharge documents for children of Air Force personnel.
  • Original NOC and four self-attested photocopies for candidates serving in a Government organisation.
  • Discharge Certificate for candidates discharged from the Army, Navy or another Government organisation.
  • Body tattoo photographs, if applicable.
  • Consent Form for PFT and Medical Tests. Candidates below 18 years must have it signed by their parent or guardian.
  • Musical instrument required for the practical test.
  • HB pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue stick, stapler and black or blue ball-point pen.

Internet copies, mobile snapshots and photograph images of educational certificates will not be accepted. DigiLocker-verified certificates must be brought in printed form along with an accessible mobile device for verification.

Pay and Benefits

Agniveervayu will receive an Agniveer package with a fixed yearly increment:

Other benefits include applicable risk and hardship allowances, dress and travel allowances, ration, clothing, accommodation, Leave Travel Concession, medical facilities at service hospitals and CSD provisions.

On completion of four years, the candidate may receive approximately ₹10.04 lakh as Seva Nidhi, excluding interest. A non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 lakh is also provided during the engagement period. Agniveervayu are not entitled to gratuity, pensionary benefits or Ex-Servicemen status. Up to 25% of each batch may be considered for enrolment in the regular cadre based on organisational requirements, performance and other applicable conditions.

Rally and Result Information

The recruitment rally will be conducted from 31/08/2026 to 09/09/2026 at the following venues:

  • 2 ASC C/O Race Course Camp, Air Force Station New Delhi, New Delhi.
  • 7 ASC, No. 1 Cubbon Road, Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The Provisional Select List is scheduled to be displayed on 14/11/2026 at both rally venues and on the CASB portal. The final Enrolment List for Agniveervayu (Musician), Intake 01/2027, will be published after 01/12/2026. Inclusion in the Provisional Select List does not guarantee enrolment.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates must remain unmarried during the four-year engagement period. Female candidates must also undertake not to become pregnant during this period.
  • Permanent tattoos are generally prohibited, subject to limited exceptions for tattoos on permitted locations and tribal customs.
  • Consumption, possession, storage or distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is a rejection criterion.
  • Candidates must not write or perform rough work on the Provisional Admit Card.
  • Candidates must apply only once. Duplicate, incomplete or incorrectly filled applications will be rejected.
  • No travel allowance or daily allowance will be provided. Candidates must make their own arrangements for stay during testing and medical examination.
  • All corrigenda, changes and updates will be published only on the CASB web portal.
