Opening Overview
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has issued the CRP PO/MT-XVI notification for recruitment to the posts of Probationary Officer/Management Trainee in participating public sector banks for vacancies of 2027-28. The recruitment process will include Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, Personality Test, Interview and Provisional Allotment. Preliminary and Main Examination call letters will be made available online through the official IBPS website as per the tentative schedule.

Admit Card Details
IBPS will issue separate call letters for the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, Personality Test and Interview. Candidates must download the relevant call letter from the official IBPS website by using their Registration Number and Password or Date of Birth. No call letter or Information Handout will be sent through post or courier.
The call letter will mention the examination centre, venue address, date, reporting time and examination session. Candidates should regularly check the official website and their registered email address and mobile number for updates.
Preliminary Examination Call Letter
- The Preliminary Examination call letter must be carried to the examination centre along with an original valid photo identity proof.
- The call letter will be authenticated or stamped by the examination centre staff and returned to the candidate.
- Candidates must preserve the stamped call letter and stamped photocopy of the identity proof for the Main Examination.
- Candidates must bring one additional photograph identical to the photograph pasted on the call letter.
- Candidates using a scribe must also carry the prescribed scribe declaration form.
Main Examination Call Letter
- Candidates called for the Main Examination must bring the Main Examination call letter.
- They must also carry the authenticated or stamped Preliminary Examination call letter and authenticated or stamped photocopy of the photo identity proof.
- Failure to produce the stamped Preliminary Examination call letter and stamped identity proof may result in denial of entry to the Main Examination.
Documents Required at the Examination Centre
Candidates must carry the following documents as instructed in the call letter and Information Handout:
- Valid call letter for the relevant examination.
- Original photo identity proof bearing exactly the same name as mentioned on the call letter and application form.
- Photocopy of the photo identity proof.
- One additional recent photograph identical to the photograph uploaded in the application.
- Stamped Preliminary Examination call letter and stamped identity proof copy for the Main Examination.
- Scribe declaration form and other prescribed documents, wherever applicable.
Accepted photo identity documents include PAN Card, Passport, Permanent Driving Licence, Voter ID with photograph, Bank Passbook with photograph, photo identity proof issued by a Gazetted Officer or elected representative, recognised college or university identity card, Aadhaar or e-Aadhaar with photograph, Employee ID and Bar Council Identity Card with photograph. Ration Card and Learner's Driving Licence will not be accepted.

Age Limit
The age limit is 20 to 30 years as on 01/07/2026. Candidates must have been born between 02/07/1996 and 01/07/2006, both dates inclusive.

Eligibility and Qualification
Candidates must possess a degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. The final result must have been declared on or before 21/07/2026.
Candidates must possess a valid marksheet or degree certificate and mention their graduation percentage in the online application. CGPA or OGPA must be converted into percentage according to the university's prescribed formula. The percentage is calculated by dividing total marks obtained in all subjects and semesters or years by the aggregate maximum marks and multiplying by 100. Fractions are ignored; for example, 59.99% is treated as below 60%.
Eligible nationality categories include Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who entered India before 01/01/1962 with the intention of permanent settlement, and persons of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries, subject to the required Government of India eligibility certificate.

Each section is separately timed. Candidates must qualify in all three tests by securing the minimum cut-off marks decided by IBPS.

The descriptive paper may cover economic and social issues, emerging trends in banking and technology, current events and ethics. A penalty of one-fourth or 0.25 marks assigned to a question will be imposed for every wrong answer in objective tests. No penalty will be imposed for questions left blank.
Selection Process
- Online Preliminary Examination.
- Online Main Examination.
- Personality Test, which is non-qualifying but mandatory for appearing in the interview.
- Common Interview conducted by participating banks and coordinated by the nodal bank.
- Provisional Allotment to a participating bank on the basis of merit and preference.
The Main Examination and Interview carry a relative weightage of 80:20. The interview carries 100 marks, with minimum qualifying marks of 40% for general candidates and 35% for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates. Marks obtained in the Main Examination are considered for shortlisting, interview and final merit listing.
Salary / Pay Scale
The Probationary Officer / Management Trainee post carries the following basic pay scale:
₹48,480-2,000/7-₹62,480-2,340/2-₹67,160-2,680/7-₹85,920.
The selected officer will also be eligible for allowances and perquisites according to the rules of the participating bank.
Examination Instructions
- Candidates reporting after the reporting time mentioned in the call letter will not be permitted to take the examination.
- Candidates must ensure that the name on the identity proof is identical to the name on the call letter and application form.
- Signature in capital letters will not be accepted.
- Biometric data and photographs may be captured or verified at different stages.
- Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, calculators, watches, bags, stationery, metallic items, water bottles, eatables, cameras, ornaments and other prohibited articles are not allowed inside the examination centre.
- Any unfair means, impersonation, misconduct, unauthorised communication or submission of false documents may lead to cancellation of candidature, debarment, criminal prosecution and termination of service where applicable.
- Candidates should preserve the same photograph used in the application throughout the selection process.
Participating Banks
The participating banks are Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India.
Examination Centres
The examinations will be conducted online at centres across India. Tentative centres are available in the notification for states and Union Territories including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and other listed regions. IBPS may cancel, add or change centres and may allot a centre other than the one selected by the candidate.

Provisional allotment does not by itself constitute an offer of employment; final appointment and joining are subject to verification by the allotted participating bank.
