The vacancies are provisional and may change according to the actual requirements of NICL and prevailing Government of India reservation rules. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/Union Territory only. The merit list will be prepared on a state-wise and category-wise basis.
Eligibility and Qualification
- The candidate must be a citizen of India, or must fulfil the nationality conditions prescribed for subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, eligible Tibetan refugees, or persons of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
- The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination on or before 01/07/2026.
- Knowledge of reading, writing and speaking the regional language of the State/Union Territory selected by the candidate is essential.
- Candidates shortlisted after the Main Examination must qualify the Regional Language Test. This test is qualifying in nature and carries no separate marks.
Age Limit
The age limit prescribed in the recruitment notification is 21 to 30 years as on 01/07/2026. Candidates must have been born between 02/07/1996 and 01/07/2005, both dates inclusive.

Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted. Candidates claiming relaxation must produce the relevant certificates at the Regional Language Test or any subsequent stage.

Bank transaction charges, wherever applicable, are payable by the candidate. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any future recruitment.
Selection Process
- Preliminary Examination, Phase I, conducted online.
- Main Examination, Phase II, conducted online.
- State/Union Territory-wise and category-wise shortlisting.
- Regional Language Test, qualifying in nature.
- Medical fitness assessment and final appointment.
The final merit list will be prepared using the marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to qualification in the Regional Language Test. The Regional Language Test carries no separate marks.

Candidates must qualify each section by securing the passing marks decided by NICL. Approximately 15 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability, may be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

There is a negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer in both the Preliminary and Main Examinations. No marks are deducted for unanswered questions.
Admit Card and Examination Instructions
Candidates must download separate call letters for the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Regional Language Test from the NICL website. The call letter will be accessed using the Registration Number/Roll Number and Password/Date of Birth.
Candidates must carry the following documents to the examination centre:
- Valid call letter for the relevant examination date and session.
- Original, currently valid photo identity proof bearing exactly the same name as mentioned on the call letter.
- Photocopy of the same photo identity proof.
Accepted identity documents include PAN Card, Passport, Permanent Driving Licence, Voter’s Card, bank passbook with photograph, Aadhaar/e-Aadhaar with photograph, employee identity card, identity card issued by a recognized college or university, Bar Council Identity Card with photograph, and identity certificates issued by authorized officials. A ration card and learner’s driving licence will not be accepted.
Candidates reporting after the reporting time mentioned in the call letter will not be allowed to take the examination. Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, electronic devices, stationery, bags, ornaments, cameras, eatables and other prohibited items are not permitted inside the examination centre.
Biometric data, including thumb impression and iris scan, along with the candidate’s photograph, may be captured during the Main Examination. Any mismatch or inconsistency during subsequent verification may result in cancellation of candidature.
Regional Language Test
Candidates qualifying in the Main Examination will be called for a Regional Language Test in the language of the State/Union Territory for which they applied. The test will assess reading, writing and speaking ability. It is qualifying only, and no marks will be awarded.
Candidates must produce original documents and self-attested photocopies at this stage, including proof of date of birth, graduation certificates and mark sheets, identity proof, caste certificate, OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate, PwBD certificate and UDID card, EWS Income and Asset Certificate, Ex-Servicemen documents, No Objection Certificate wherever applicable, and other documents supporting eligibility.
Salary and Benefits
The Assistant post carries the following pay scale:

The approximate initial gross emoluments are ₹53,000 per month in a metropolitan city, depending on the place of posting. Other benefits include domiciliary medical benefits, group mediclaim reimbursement, leave travel subsidy and staff welfare schemes as per NICL rules.
Newly appointed employees will be placed on probation for a minimum period of six months. Appointment is subject to medical fitness and the applicable service and conduct rules of the Company.
