Eligibility and Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a Graduate Degree from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification.
  • The prescribed qualification must have been obtained by the closing date of online application submission, i.e. 14/08/2026.
  • Candidates awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must satisfy the prescribed age, nationality and A-2 medical standards.

Age Limit

The age limit is 20 to 33 years as on 01/07/2026. The applicable date of birth limits are as follows:

Additional relaxation is available as per the CEN rules:

  • OBC-NCL: 3 years
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • PwBD: 10 years for UR/EWS, 13 years for OBC-NCL and 15 years for SC/ST
  • Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation after deduction of the length of military service, subject to category-wise limits
  • Serving eligible Railway staff: Maximum age of 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 years for OBC-NCL and 45 years for SC/ST
  • Widowed, divorced or judicially separated women who have not remarried: Maximum age of 35 years for UR/EWS, 38 years for OBC-NCL and 40 years for SC/ST

The fee must be paid online through internet banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. EBC candidates must possess a valid EBC certificate, BPL card, Izzat MST or eligible Central Government poverty alleviation certificate on or before 14/08/2026. EBC, EWS and OBC are separate categories.

Admit Card Details

The CBT and CBAT examination schedules, city intimation slips and e-call letters will be published on the official websites of the concerned RRBs. Candidates will not receive call letters by post.

  • The examination city is generally intimated around 10 days before the examination.
  • The e-call letter is generally made available around four days before the CBT or CBAT.
  • Candidates should regularly check the official RRB website, registered mobile number and email ID.
  • Separate e-call letters may be issued for eligible scribes.
  • The admit card must be downloaded only from the official RRB website.

Documents to Carry to the Examination Centre

Candidates must carry the following documents and items as instructed by the RRB:

  • Printed e-call letter
  • Original valid photo identity proof, such as Aadhaar card, e-Aadhaar printout, Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, government employee identity card or educational institution identity card
  • Recent colour passport-size photograph not older than two months from the relevant examination date
  • Original SC/ST certificate and travel authority, where free railway travel has been claimed
  • Required medical or vision certificate for candidates appearing in the CBAT
  • Scribe documents and separate scribe e-call letter, wherever applicable

The self-declaration paragraph, signature and left thumb impression must be completed at the examination venue in the presence of the invigilator. Candidates should not fill these portions in advance.

Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR, 40% for EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL, 30% for SC and 25% for ST. These qualifying percentages also apply to Ex-Servicemen according to their community. A relaxation of up to two marks may be allowed for PwBD candidates in case of shortage against reserved PwBD vacancies.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

  • Candidates up to eight times the number of vacancies, RRB-wise and community-wise, may be shortlisted for CBAT based on CBT performance.
  • Candidates must bring the original vision certificate in the prescribed format to the CBAT.
  • The CBAT questions and options will be available in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates must secure a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery.
  • No relaxation is permitted in the CBAT minimum T-score.
  • There is no negative marking in CBAT.
  • Only candidates qualifying in every CBAT test battery will be considered for the merit list.

The final merit is prepared only from candidates who qualify in the CBAT. CBT carries 70% weightage and CBAT carries 30% weightage. Candidates equal to the number of vacancies may be called for Document Verification according to merit and Railway preferences.

Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other corrective refractive surgery are not eligible for the Section Controller post. The prescribed eye-specialist vision certificate must be submitted on the CBAT examination day.

Admit Card Examination Instructions

Electronic devices and other prohibited articles are not allowed inside the examination centre. These include mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, earphones, cameras, bags, purses, books, papers, stationery, belts, caps, water bottles and food items. Candidates should not carry pens or pencils because writing instruments will be provided at the centre.

Candidates should avoid applying henna on their hands or feet because it may interfere with biometric capture. Requests for a change of examination centre, date or shift will not be accepted.

Application and Document Verification Notes

  • Candidates could apply to only one RRB; applications submitted to more than one RRB are rejected.
  • The selected RRB cannot be changed after submission.
  • Details entered during account creation, including mobile number and email ID, cannot be modified.
  • Other permitted application details could be modified between 17/08/2026 and 26/08/2026 by paying a non-refundable modification fee of ₹250 per modification.
  • Candidates must upload a running-handwritten signature in JPG/JPEG format between 30 KB and 49 KB.
  • SC/ST candidates seeking free train travel must upload a valid SC/ST certificate in PDF format, less than 400 KB.
  • Candidates called for DV must produce original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies.
  • Candidates working in Government departments, Railways or Public Sector Undertakings must produce a No Objection Certificate during Document Verification.
  • Biometric, photograph and signature verification may be conducted at every stage.
