Opening Overview

Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Indian Space Research Organisation, Department of Space, has issued Advertisement No. SDSC SHAR/RMT/01/2025 dated 16/10/2025 for recruitment to 141 posts across Scientist/Engineer, Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant, Radiographer, Technician, Draughtsman, Cook, Fireman, Light Vehicle Driver and Nurse categories.

The recruitment application window was scheduled from 16/10/2025 to 14/11/2025. Eligible candidates will receive information for the Written Test, Interview or Skill Test through their registered email ID and may download call letters from the SDSC SHAR website using their registration number and date of birth.

Application Fee Information

The notification prescribed the following processing fee arrangements:

Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates were exempted from the application fee component. The processing fee was payable online only and refund was linked to attendance in the Written Test.

Vacancy Details

Postings were primarily identified for SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota. Certain posts were earmarked for IIRS Dehradun, VSSC Thiruvananthapuram, LPSC Valiamala, Propellant Complex Rasayani, IPRC Mahendragiri and ADRIN Secunderabad. Selected candidates may be posted at any ISRO Centre or Department of Space unit in India and will carry all-India transfer liability.

Age Limit

The age limit was calculated as on 14/11/2025:

• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’, Post Codes 01 and 02: 18 to 30 years.
• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’, Post Codes 03 to 06: 18 to 28 years.
• Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant, Radiographer, Technician, Draughtsman, Cook, Light Vehicle Driver and Nurse: generally 18 to 35 years.
• Fireman ‘A’: 18 to 25 years.
• SC/ST candidates received 5 years’ relaxation against posts reserved for these categories.
• OBC candidates received 3 years’ relaxation against posts reserved for the OBC category.
• Ex-Servicemen, PwBD candidates, Central Government servants and other eligible categories were entitled to relaxation according to Government of India orders.

Educational Qualification

The required qualification varied by post:

• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Machine Design: M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. (Engineering) or equivalent postgraduate degree in Machine Design with at least 60% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.5, along with a qualifying mechanical engineering degree with at least 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.84.
• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Industrial Engineering: M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. (Engineering) or equivalent postgraduate degree in Industrial Engineering with at least 60% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.5, along with B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering) or equivalent with at least 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.84.
• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Electrical and Electronics Engineering: B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering) or equivalent in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with at least 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.84.
• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Atmospheric Science / Meteorology: M.Sc. in Atmospheric Science or Meteorology with at least 60% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.5, along with B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics combination and at least 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.84.
• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Analytical Chemistry: M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry with at least 60% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.5, along with B.Sc. Chemistry and Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science as an additional subject with at least 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.84.
• Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Chemical Engineering: B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Chemical Engineering with at least 65% marks or CGPA/CPI 6.84.
• Technical Assistant: First Class Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognised university or institution. The diploma for Post Codes 07 to 16 must be of at least three years’ duration.
• Scientific Assistant: First Class B.Sc. with Chemistry or Computer Science as the main subject, as applicable. Fine Arts / Visual Arts posts require a First Class Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography or Visual Arts in Cinematography.
• Library Assistant ‘A’: First Class graduation and First Class Master’s Degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science or equivalent.
• Radiographer ‘A’: First Class Diploma in Radiography of at least two years’ duration from a State or Central Government-recognised college or institution.
• Technician ‘B’ and Draughtsman ‘B’: SSLC/SSC pass with ITI/NTC/NAC in the relevant NCVT trade, such as Chemical, Electrician, Fitter, Civil Engineering Assistant, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Photography, Electronic Mechanic, Boiler Attendant, Diesel Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Draughtsman Civil, Information Technology or Information and Communication Technology System Maintenance.
• Cook: SSLC/SSC/Matriculation/10th pass and five years’ experience as a Cook in a well-established hotel or canteen.
• Fireman ‘A’: SSLC/SSC/Matriculation/10th pass with prescribed physical fitness and endurance standards.
• Light Vehicle Driver ‘A’: SSLC/SSC/Matriculation/10th pass, three years’ experience as a Light Vehicle Driver and a valid LVD licence.
• Nurse ‘B’: First Class Diploma in Nursing of at least three years’ duration recognised by the State or Central Government, with registration with the respective State Nursing Council.

The essential qualification must have been completed and valid by 14/11/2025. Candidates claiming equivalence must produce documentary evidence certified by the concerned university or institution.

Admit Card / Call Letter Details

Eligible candidates will be informed about the Written Test, Interview and Skill Test through their registered email ID. Call letters may also be downloaded from shar.gov.in or apps.shar.gov.in by entering the registration number and date of birth.

Candidates must carry the call letter and required original identity and qualification documents as specified in the call letter. Candidates shortlisted for Interview or Skill Test must produce original certificates and documents for verification. Failure to produce the required documents may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ Posts

Written examinations for Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ posts were planned at Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Dehradun and Guntur.

Remaining Posts

The examination cities included Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Guwahati, Patna, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Bhopal, Mumbai, Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Tirunelveli, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Dehradun and Kolkata.

The examination centre allotted to a candidate would remain subject to administrative requirements. If accommodation was not feasible at the selected centre, the nearest feasible centre could be allotted.

Exam Pattern

Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Post Codes 01 and 02

Candidates had to secure at least 50% marks separately in Parts A, B and C. The interview carried 50 marks and the final selection weightage was 50% Written Test and 50% Interview, with an aggregate qualifying requirement of 60%.

Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ – Post Codes 03 to 06

Candidates had to secure at least 50% marks separately in Parts A and B. The interview carried 50 marks and the final selection weightage was 50% Written Test and 50% Interview, with an aggregate qualifying requirement of 60%.

Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant, Technician and Draughtsman

• Written Test: 80 MCQs in 1.5 hours.
• Marking: +1 for each correct answer and -0.33 for each wrong answer.
• Skill Test: 100 marks, qualifying in nature.
• Unreserved qualifying standard: 32/80 in Written Test and 50/100 in Skill Test.
• Reserved-post qualifying standard: 24/80 in Written Test and 40/100 in Skill Test.
• Skill Test was conducted on a go-no-go basis and skill-test marks were not counted for final merit.
• Candidates were generally shortlisted for Skill Test in a 1:5 ratio, with a minimum of 10 candidates.

Nurse, Radiographer and Cook

Selection comprised Written Test and Skill Test. The Skill Test was qualifying in nature and final merit was prepared on the basis of Written Test marks among candidates who qualified in the Skill Test.

Fireman ‘A’

Selection comprised Written Test, Physical Efficiency Test and Detailed Medical Examination. The Physical Efficiency Test was conducted on a go-no-go basis, and final merit was based on Written Test marks among candidates qualifying in PET and DME. Candidates were required to submit a valid Preliminary Medical Examination certificate in the prescribed format.

Light Vehicle Driver ‘A’

The examination duration was 120 minutes. Each question carried one mark and 0.25 mark was deducted for every wrong answer. No penalty applied to unanswered questions. Candidates had to secure at least 50% marks in Part A and at least 50% marks jointly in Parts B, C and D. The Skill Test required at least 60% marks, with no category relaxation.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be governed by the National Pension System or Unified Pension Scheme. ISRO benefits include medical facilities, canteen and library facilities, transport or housing facilities as applicable, Leave Travel Concession, group insurance and House Building Advance under prevailing rules.
