Age Limit

The prescribed age limit for all three posts is 18 to 27 years. The age is calculated with reference to the closing date for receipt of applications.

Age relaxation is available as follows:

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC candidates: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age
  • Central Government departmental candidates: Up to 40 years for UR candidates and up to 45 years for SC/ST candidates
  • Candidates ordinarily domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh during 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989: Additional relaxation as prescribed in the notification
  • Children and dependants of victims killed in the 1984 riots: Relaxation as prescribed for the relevant category

Eligibility / Qualification

Head Constable (Laboratory Assistant)

  • 12th Class pass with Biology as a subject from a recognized Board.
  • Minimum one-year certificate course in Laboratory Assistant from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Laboratory Assistant in a laboratory diagnostic centre, hospital or institution laboratory recognized by the Central or State Government.

Head Constable (Physiotherapy Assistant)

  • 12th Class pass from a recognized Board.
  • Minimum one-year certificate course in Physiotherapy from a recognized institute.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Physiotherapy Assistant from a Physiotherapy Centre, minimum 100-bedded hospital or institute recognized by the Central or State Government.

Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic)

  • 10th Class pass from a recognized Board.
  • First Aid certificate course from St. John’s Ambulance Organization or the Red Cross Society of India.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Nursing Assistant in a minimum 50-bedded hospital or institution recognized by the Central or State Government.

Candidates must possess the required educational and professional certificates by the last date of receipt of applications. The name and date of birth recorded in the Matriculation certificate will be accepted for determining identity and age.

The posts carry Dearness Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other admissible allowances under SSB and Government rules. Selected candidates will be covered under the applicable Defined Contributory Pension Scheme or Unified Pension Scheme as per prevailing rules.

Admit Card Details

Admit cards or call letters for the recruitment stages will be uploaded on the SSB recruitment website. The admit card will contain details of the examination or recruitment venue, reporting date and other instructions.

Candidates should:

  • Download and print the admit card when it is released.
  • Report to the venue on the date and time mentioned on the admit card.
  • Carry the identity proof, educational and professional certificates, caste or category certificate, Aadhaar card and other documents mentioned in the application.
  • Bring original documents along with self-attested photocopies for documentation.
  • Reach the examination venue at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
  • Follow all biometric, photograph, signature and thumb-impression verification requirements.

Constable (Nursing Assistant cum Medic)

  • Mode: Common Entrance Test
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Total questions: 100 objective-type questions
  • Total marks: 100
  • Subjects: General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning and General English / General Hindi

For both written examinations, a correct answer carries 1 mark, an incorrect answer attracts 0.25 negative mark, and an unanswered question carries 0 marks.

Documentation and Medical Examination

Candidates qualifying in the written examination may be shortlisted category-wise up to three times the number of vacancies. Original certificates and duly attested photocopies must be produced during documentation. Failure to produce the required documents may result in cancellation of candidature.

Candidates declared fit in the Detailed Medical Examination may be considered for final selection according to merit. Candidates declared unfit may appeal for a Review Medical Examination on the ground of an error of judgment. The decision of the Review Medical Examination Board will be final.

Important Instructions for Candidates

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible, subject to the provisions relating to eligible subjects of Nepal and Bhutan.
  • Applications submitted through any mode other than online mode will be rejected.
  • Candidates must upload a recent passport-size colour photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  • The photograph should have a white background and clearly show approximately 75% of the candidate’s face.
  • Any false information, fake photograph, impersonation or forged document may lead to rejection, legal action and debarment from future SSB recruitment.
  • Biometric verification may be conducted at all stages of the recruitment process.
  • Candidates employed in Government, semi-Government or public sector organizations should apply through the proper channel.
  • No request for change of category will ordinarily be accepted after registration.
  • The Director General, SSB reserves the right to increase, decrease, fill or cancel vacancies or modify the recruitment process.
