Opening

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) have issued the Centralised Employment Notice CEN 08/2025 for recruitment to Isolated Categories posts in Indian Railways. Candidates will be able to download the Answer Key (when released) from the official RRB websites and submit objections within the notified window.

This recruitment includes 312 total vacancies across multiple RRBs for posts like Junior Translator (Hindi), Chief Law Assistant, Public Prosecutor, Senior Publicity Inspector, Staff & Welfare Inspector, Scientific Assistant (Training), Lab Assistant Grade III (Chemist & Metallurgist), Scientific Supervisor (Ergonomics & Training).

Age Relaxation (upper age limit) as per rules:

  • PwBD: UR/EWS 10 years, OBC(NCL) 13 years, SC/ST 15 years
  • Railway Staff (Group C / erstwhile Group D with minimum 3 years service): UR/EWS up to 40 years, OBC(NCL) up to 43 years, SC/ST up to 45 years

Eligibility / Qualification

Post-wise minimum qualification (as per Annexure-A):

  • Chief Law Assistant: Degree in Law + 3 years standing practice as a Pleader at Bar. Serving Railway employees who are Law Graduates are also eligible with at least 5 years service in any Railway branch (as per notice conditions).

  • Public Prosecutor: Graduate with Bachelor’s Degree in Law + 5 years standing as an advocate at Bar.

  • Junior Translator (Hindi):

    • Master’s Degree in Hindi/English (or other subject as per combinations given in notice) with Hindi/English at Degree level as compulsory/elective/medium, AND
    • Diploma/Certificate in translation (Hindi-English) OR 2 years translation experience in Central/State Govt offices including Govt of India Undertaking.
  • Senior Publicity Inspector: Degree + Diploma in Public Relations / Advertising / Journalism / Mass Communication. Desirable: 2 years experience.

  • Staff & Welfare Inspector: Graduation + any one of: Diploma in Labour/Social Welfare, Diploma in Labour Laws, LLB with Labour Laws papers, PG Diploma in Personnel Management, MBA with Personnel Management papers, MBA/HR, PG Diploma in HRM (with Personnel Management in curriculum) from Govt of India recognized institution.

  • Scientific Assistant (Training): Second Class Master’s Degree in Psychology + 1 year experience in administration of psychological tests. Desirable: knowledge of computers & statistics; specialization in Industrial/Organisational Psychology.

  • Lab Assistant Grade III (Chemist & Metallurgist): 12th (+2) with Science (Physics & Chemistry).

  • Scientific Supervisor (Ergonomics & Training): Second Class Master’s Degree in Psychology or Physiology + 2 years experience in administration of psychological tests / research in work psychology / developing training modules or conducting training programmes. Desirable: specialization in Industrial Psychology / Ergonomics / Counseling with knowledge of statistics & computers.

Selection Process

  1. Single Stage CBT
  2. Translation Test (TT) (only for posts where applicable, notably Junior Translator)
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Medical Examination (ME)

Shortlisting notes (as per notice):

  • DV shortlisting is based on RRB-wise merit in CBT.
  • Translation Test shortlisting is 10 times the vacancies based on CBT merit (and all candidates at cut-off may be called even if it exceeds 10x).

Exam Pattern

CBT (for all posts except Junior Translator/Hindi)

  • Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for candidates eligible for scribe)

Minimum qualifying percentage (as per notice):

  • UR: 40%
  • EWS: 40%
  • OBC (NCL): 30%
  • SC: 30%

Junior Translator (Hindi) CBT + Translation Test

  • Single Stage CBT followed by qualifying Translation Test
  • CBT is designed to test English + Hindi equally; at least 50% questions for language proficiency (20% English + 30% Hindi)
  • Translation Test qualifying marks: 60%
  • Merit list for Junior Translator is based on CBT marks only (Translation Test is qualifying)

Answer Key Details

RRB will publish the CBT Answer Key on the official RRB websites. Candidates should:

  • Log in using the credentials used during application.
  • Download the Answer Key and view the response sheet (if provided on portal).
  • Calculate tentative score considering 1/3 negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Submit objections (if the portal provides an objection facility) within the deadline announced by RRB.

Important exam-day and process notes relevant for answer key stage:

  • E-Call letter download is generally available about 4 days before CBT and city intimation about 10 days before CBT (as per notice).
  • Candidates must carry e-call letter + original photo ID to the exam.
