Bank of Baroda has announced 2,482 Local Bank Officer vacancies in JMG/S-I across 20 states. Graduates with one year of officer-level experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank can apply online from 18/08/2026 to 07/09/2026.

Bank of Baroda has invited online applications from eligible Indian citizens for 2,482 Local Bank Officer posts on a regular basis in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMG/S-I). Eligible graduates with at least one year of post-qualification officer-level experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank and proficiency in the local language of the applied state can apply online from 18/08/2026 to 07/09/2026.

The fee is non-refundable and must be paid online through the integrated payment gateway. Candidates can use a debit card, credit card, internet banking or UPI. The registration process is complete only after successful fee payment on or before the last date.

Age Limit

The candidate must be between 21 and 30 years of age as on 01/08/2026. The maximum age is prescribed for General category candidates.

Creamy-layer OBC candidates or candidates whose caste is not included in the Central List cannot claim OBC reservation or age relaxation. There is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen in the Officers' Cadre.

Vacancy Details

The vacancies are state-wise and include new vacancies as well as unfilled vacancies from previous Local Bank Officer recruitment exercises. Candidates can apply for one state only, and the merit list will be prepared state-wise and category-wise.

The category-wise total reservation position is SC: 358, ST: 240, OBC: 600, EWS: 303 and General: 981. Horizontal PwBD reservation includes LD: 42, HI: 37, VI: 26 and d&e: 25 posts.

For Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, English will be accepted as the local language only for candidates who have studied and passed English as a subject from a school located in the respective state.

Eligibility / Qualification

Educational Qualification

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.
  • The qualification must be recognized by the Government of India, government regulatory bodies or AICTE.
  • Candidates must enter the percentage obtained in graduation to the nearest two decimal places.
  • Where CGPA or OGPA is awarded, it must be converted into percentage according to the university's prescribed norms.
  • The fraction of percentage will be ignored. For example, 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% as less than 55%.

Post-Qualification Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience as an Officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India.
  • Experience in the clerical cadre will not be considered.
  • Experience of less than six months in any organization as on 01/08/2026 will not be considered, except where such experience forms part of the candidate's current employment.
  • Candidates must provide experience certificates or job profiles certified by their current or previous employers.
  • The declared job profile must substantially match the profile of a Scale-I officer in Bank of Baroda.

Preferred Certifications

The following certifications are preferred but are not stated as mandatory:

  • IC 38 from the Insurance Institute of India.
  • NISM Series V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination.
  • NISM Series XXI-A: Portfolio Management Services Distributors Certification Examination.
  • NISM Series XIII: Common Derivatives Certification Examination.

Language Proficiency

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the local language of the state for which they apply. Candidates shortlisted for the online examination must qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT), unless they produce a 10th or 12th standard marksheet or certificate showing that they studied the specified local language as a subject.

Nationality

The candidate must be an Indian citizen, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who entered India before 01/01/1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India. Candidates requiring an eligibility certificate must obtain it from the Government of India before final appointment.

Exclusions

  • Employees of Bank of Baroda who resigned from an officer-grade position or exited the Bank while serving on contract within the last three years as on 01/08/2026 cannot apply.
  • Existing Bank of Baroda officers and employees engaged on a contract basis cannot apply.
  • Only one application may be submitted. In case of multiple applications, only the latest valid and completed application will be retained and fees paid for other applications will be forfeited.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Local Bank Officer may be assigned the following duties:

  • Managing day-to-day banking operations, customer service, account management, cash operations and remittances.
  • Processing, appraising and administering retail, agriculture, MSME and other credit proposals.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, KYC/AML requirements, audit standards, risk management and fraud prevention procedures.
  • Performing administrative and supervisory functions, staff coordination and preparation of MIS and regulatory reports.
  • Mobilizing deposits, acquiring customers, marketing banking products and achieving business and cross-selling targets.
  • Developing customer relationships through community engagement, referrals and local market outreach.
  • Undertaking customer visits, follow-ups and relationship management activities.
  • Using local language proficiency and local market knowledge to promote financial inclusion and business growth.
  • Performing any other business, operational, administrative or customer service duties assigned by the Bank.

Selection Process

The selection process may include:

  1. Online examination or multiple rounds of online tests.
  2. Psychometric test or any other assessment considered suitable by the Bank.
  3. Group Discussion, wherever conducted.
  4. Personal Interview.
  5. Local Language Proficiency Test for shortlisted candidates, unless exempted through 10th or 12th standard language proof.
  6. Document verification and medical examination before joining.

The Bank may modify, add or cancel any stage of the selection process. Candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview based on online examination performance, vacancies and cut-off criteria. The minimum qualifying marks for GD/PI are 60% for General category candidates and 55% for reserved category candidates, subject to revision by the Bank.

  • Separate timing will be provided for every section.
  • Except for English Language, the sections will be available in English and Hindi.
  • English Language is qualifying in nature, and its marks will not be counted in the final merit list.
  • There will be a penalty for wrong answers in all sections. 0.25 marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • No penalty will be imposed for unanswered questions.
  • The online examination date will be notified separately through the Bank's website.

Salary / Pay Scale

The Local Bank Officer will be appointed in JMG/S-I with the following basic pay scale:

₹48,480 – ₹2,000/7 – ₹62,480 – ₹2,340/2 – ₹67,160 – ₹2,680/7 – ₹85,920

One advance increment will be granted to candidates having one year or more of officer-level work experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank. In addition to basic pay, selected candidates will receive allowances, benefits, perquisites and other facilities according to the applicable industry-level bipartite settlement, Joint Note and Bank policies.

Posting, Probation and Service Bond

  • Selected candidates will be posted within the state for which they applied for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever is earlier.
  • After this period, candidates may be posted to any branch or office of the Bank anywhere in India.
  • The probation period is 12 months of active service from the date of joining.
  • Selected candidates must execute a service bond requiring them to serve the Bank for a minimum of 3 years after joining.
  • If a candidate leaves before completing three years of active service, the current bond condition requires payment equivalent to three months' gross salary, subject to a maximum of ₹2,00,000. The bond period and amount may be revised under the Bank's prevailing policies.

Documents and Application Requirements

Candidates must upload clear, readable documents in the prescribed format, including:

  • Resume in PDF format.
  • Date of birth proof, such as 10th marksheet or certificate.
  • Educational marksheets and certificates in a single PDF file.
  • Work experience certificates, where applicable.
  • Caste or category certificate, where applicable.
  • PwBD certificate, where applicable.

All documents must be in PDF format, use A4 page size and generally not exceed 500 KB per file. Candidates must also upload a recent photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration. The handwritten declaration must be written by the candidate in English and must not be in capital letters. The online application will not be registered unless all required photographs, signatures and documents are uploaded correctly.

Candidates must preserve the system-generated application form and e-receipt. At the examination, candidates must carry the call letter and a photocopy of a valid photo identity proof bearing the same name as shown on the call letter. PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter's Card, Bank Passbook with photograph, Aadhaar Card with photograph, Employee ID and other prescribed identity documents may be accepted. Ration Card will not be accepted as identity proof.

PwBD candidates may use a scribe according to Government of India guidelines and may receive compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour where eligible and registered in the application. Mobile phones, pagers, calculators and other communication devices are not allowed at the examination venue.
