Eligibility / Qualification

Essential Qualification (Academic):

  • Candidate should have a good academic record with minimum 55% marks in Master’s Degree (or equivalent grade).
  • Relaxation in Master’s marks:
    • 5% relaxation for SC / ST / BC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of Bihar.
    • 5% relaxation for Persons with Disability (PwD) of Bihar at Master’s level.
    • Note: As per notification, both relaxations are not admissible together for the same candidate.

NET / Ph.D. Requirement (UGC Rules): Candidate must have either:

  • Qualified NET for Assistant Professor conducted by UGC/CSIR or any other test accredited by UGC, OR
  • Awarded Ph.D. degree as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and eligible for NET exemption as per UGC regulations.

Ph.D. (Pre-2009 registration) NET exemption conditions: Candidates registered for Ph.D. before implementation of UGC Regulation 2009 may be exempted from NET/SET/State Level Eligibility Test subject to fulfilment of conditions such as:

  • Ph.D. awarded in regular mode
  • Thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners
  • Open Ph.D. viva conducted
  • Two research papers published from Ph.D. work (at least one in a refereed journal)
  • At least two papers presented in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agency
  • Certification by Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs/Concerned Faculty) of the concerned University

Foreign Ph.D. option: Ph.D. obtained from a recognized foreign University/Institution ranked among top 500 in world rankings (QS/THE/ARWU) as mentioned in the notification.

Reservation / Domicile Key Rule (Important):

  • Reservation benefits are only for Bihar domicile candidates.
  • Candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved/General for reservation purposes.
  • Bihar Domicile Certificate issued by competent Circle Office is mandatory to claim any reservation benefit.

Selection Process

  1. Screening / Shortlisting based on academic score as per marking scheme.
  2. Interview-cum-Demonstration (Teaching Skill + Interaction).
  3. Merit List preparation.
  4. University/College Allotment based on merit-cum-choice and availability.
  5. Document Verification (post-selection / as per commission process) and submission of notarised affidavit.

Exam Pattern

Salary / Pay Scale

  • Monthly remuneration will be equivalent to the minimum monthly gross salary (Basic + DA only) of a regularly appointed Assistant Professor at the entry level (as per notification).
  • Appointment is purely contractual and engagement is generally valid for one session (renewal/extension subject to screening, recommendation, performance assessment and university requirement).
