Age Limit

The minimum age is 21 years. The maximum age is calculated separately for the two vacancy tables:

  • For the 28 vacancies: age is calculated as on 01/08/2025.
  • For the 74 vacancies: age is calculated as on 01/08/2026.
  • Unreserved male candidates: maximum 37 years.
  • Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class male and female candidates: maximum 40 years.
  • Unreserved female candidates: maximum 40 years.
  • Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe male and female candidates: maximum 42 years.
  • Bihar Government employees may receive up to 5 years of age relaxation subject to the conditions stated in the notification.
  • Persons with benchmark disabilities may receive 10 years of additional age relaxation.
  • Ex-servicemen may receive 3 years of age relaxation, subject to the prescribed conditions and maximum age limit.

Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognised university in any one of the following subjects:

  • Commerce
  • Economics
  • Statistics
  • Mathematics

Candidates holding the following additional professional qualifications are also eligible to apply:

  • MBA in Finance
  • Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • ICWA
  • Company Secretary (CS)

The educational qualification entered in the application must match the qualification supported by the candidate's original documents. Candidates must produce their original degree, mark sheet and relevant professional qualification certificates during document verification or interview.

Selection Process

Selection will be conducted through the following stages:

  1. Preliminary examination
  2. Written main examination
  3. Interview
  4. Document verification and final selection

Candidates qualifying in the preliminary examination will be invited to submit a separate application for the written main examination. Candidates must attend the interview after qualifying in the written examination; otherwise, they will not be included in the final merit list.

The preliminary examination will consist of objective-type questions from General Studies. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General candidates, 36.5% for Backward Class candidates, 34% for Extremely Backward Class candidates, and 32% for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, women and persons with benchmark disabilities candidates.

The written examination will contain two compulsory subjects of General Studies, one compulsory General Hindi paper and one optional subject selected from Commerce, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics. General Hindi includes 30 qualifying marks, which are not counted for preparation of the merit list.

Interview

The interview carries 120 marks. Candidates called for interview will generally be selected in a number equal to approximately 2.5 times the number of advertised vacancies, subject to the applicable cut-off marks.

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the written examination and interview. If candidates obtain equal marks, merit will be determined according to the prescribed tie-breaking rules.

Salary / Pay Scale

The Auditor post carries the following pay structure:

  • Pay Scale: ₹5,200–₹20,200
  • Grade Pay: ₹2,800
  • Pay Level: Level 5

Other allowances and benefits will be admissible according to Bihar Government rules.

Reservation and Document Requirements

Reservation benefits are available to eligible Bihar residents under the applicable state government rules. Candidates claiming reservation must select the correct category in the online application and possess valid certificates issued by the competent authority.

The BPSC One Time Registration (OTR) system requires an active email ID and mobile number. Candidates must keep their login details secure, upload the required documents through the permitted process, and download and preserve the final submitted application form. After profile lock, changes to profile details are generally not permitted.
