Age Limit

Age is calculated as on 01/08/2025 (based on Matric / equivalent certificate).

  • Unreserved (General) Male: 20 to 37 years
  • Unreserved (General) Female: 20 to 40 years
  • BC / EBC (Male & Female): 20 to 40 years
  • SC / ST (Male & Female): 20 to 42 years

Age Relaxation:

  • Bihar Government regular employees (minimum 3 years of continuous service): 5 years relaxation in maximum age for appearing in competitive exams for higher pay level/service cadre.
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years + length of defence service relaxation, subject to actual age not exceeding 57 years on the cut-off date.

Notes on Reservation (as per notification):

  • Reservation benefits (including 35% horizontal reservation for women) are applicable only to Bihar domicile candidates.
  • Candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved (UR).
  • 2% horizontal reservation is applicable for eligible dependents (grandson/granddaughter) of Bihar’s freedom fighters as per rules.

Eligibility / Qualification

  • Nationality: Indian citizen.
  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree (Graduation) or equivalent on or before 01/08/2025.
  • Only one application: A candidate can submit only one online application. Multiple applications may lead to rejection.

  2. Main Written Examination
    • Paper 1: Objective MCQ
    • Paper 2: Descriptive (Hindi/English writing)
  3. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) (Height/Chest/Weight as applicable)
  4. Medical Examination
  5. Character Verification & Antecedents Verification

Final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the Main Written Examination (category-wise merit).

Minimum qualifying in Prelims:

  • Candidates scoring less than 30% marks in Prelims will not be considered for the Main Exam.

Shortlisting for Mains:

  • Based on Prelims marks, up to 10 times the vacancies (category-wise merit) will be shortlisted for the Main Exam (ratio may be reduced if sufficient eligible candidates are not available).
  • If the exam is held in multiple shifts/sets, marks will be normalized using the Equi-Percentile Method.
