Opening Overview

Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India has released Vacancy Advertisement No. 1/2026 for Group A, Group B and Group C posts. A total of 163 vacancies are available for various posts including Research Officer, Assistant Research Officer, Staff Nurse, MLT, UDC, LDC, Stenographer, Driver, MTS and others. Online applications can be submitted from 01/07/2026 to 31/07/2026.

Age Limit

• Age will be considered as on the closing date for receipt of applications (31/07/2026).
• Post-wise upper age limits (as per notification):
  • Research Officer (Unani) / Research Officer (Pathology) / Research Officer (Physiology): Not exceeding 40 years
  • Assistant Research Officer (Pharmacology): Up to 30 years
  • Assistant Research Officer (Pharmacognosy/Botany): Up to 35 years
  • Staff Nurse / Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT): Not exceeding 35 years
  • Accounts Officer (HQs): Up to 30 years
  • Research Assistant (Chemistry/Botany): Up to 30 years
  • Investigator (Statistics): 30 years and below
  • Library & Information Assistant (LIA): Up to 28 years
  • Proof Reader: 30 years and below
  • Hindi Assistant: Up to 30 years

Age Relaxation (as per Govt. of India rules mentioned in notification):

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC (NCL): 3 years
• PwBD: 10 years (UR), 13 years (OBC-NCL), 15 years (SC/ST)
• Maximum age after combining all cumulative relaxations: 56 years
• Other relaxations applicable as per Government of India instructions (including Ex-Servicemen, Meritorious Sportspersons, widows/divorced/judicially separated women, J&K domicile period etc.)

Eligibility / Qualification

Below is a post-wise essential qualification summary (as per notification):

• Research Officer (Unani) (Group A): Post Graduate Degree MD/MS in Unani System of Medicine from a university/institution recognized by NCISM (formerly CCIM) + enrolment on Central/State Register of Unani/ISM.
• Research Officer (Pathology) (Group A): MD in Pathology from an MCI recognized university/institution + enrolment on Central/State Register of Medical Council.
• Research Officer (Physiology) (Group A): Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology / Biotechnology / Human Genetics / Genetics Engineering from a recognized university/institution + 3 years’ experience after Master’s in relevant subject in recognized research/academic institution/lab/industry OR Ph.D. after Master’s.
• Assistant Research Officer (Pharmacology) (Group B): M.Sc. in Pharmacology or M.V.Sc. from a recognized university/institution.
• Assistant Research Officer (Pharmacognosy/Botany) (Group B): Master’s Degree in concerned discipline + 3 years Research/Teaching experience after Master’s OR Ph.D. in concerned discipline.
• Staff Nurse (Group B): B.Sc (Hons) Nursing / Regular B.Sc Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing from recognized university/institute OR Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) + registration as Nurse/Nurse & Midwife with State Nursing Council; where applicable, 1 year experience in minimum 50-bedded hospital after required qualification.
• Accounts Officer (HQs) (Group B): Degree from recognized university/institute + 3 years’ experience in Cash/Accounts/Budget work in Government Office/PSU/Autonomous Body/Statutory Body.
• Research Assistant (Chemistry) (Group B): Post Graduate degree in concerned discipline.
• Research Assistant (Botany) (Group B): Post Graduate degree in concerned discipline.
• Investigator (Statistics) (Group B): Master’s Degree in Statistics/Mathematics with Statistics as one subject + 3 years’ experience in statistical work (preferably medical/health statistics) OR Ph.D. in Statistics.
• Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) (Group B): Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology / Medical Laboratory Science with 2 years’ relevant experience.
• Library & Information Assistant (LIA) (Group B): Degree from recognized institution/university + Degree in Library Science.
• Proof Reader (Group B): Degree from recognized university + Diploma (1 year) in Books publishing/production/Printing Technology/Marketing + 3 years’ experience.
• Hindi Assistant (Group B): Degree from recognized university + adequate knowledge of Hindi equivalent to Hindi standard B.A. + ability to translate English to Hindi and vice-versa (test).
• Pharmacist (Group C): 10+2 with Science + 2 years Diploma in Pharmacy + registration with State/Central Pharmacy Council.
• Social Worker (Group C): Degree + Diploma in Social Work + 1 year experience in Social Work in recognized institution/hospital OR Master’s Degree in Sociology.
• Radiographer (Group C): 10+2 with Science + Certificate/Diploma in Radiography + 1 year experience in Radiography.
• Compounder (Group C): Matric/equivalent + Certificate of training as Compounder in Unani System of Medicine (minimum 1 year) + experience (as per notification).
• Stenographer Grade-III (Group C): Matric/equivalent + shorthand 80 wpm and typing 40 wpm (as evidenced by test) + working knowledge of computer.
• UDC (Group C): Degree from recognized university.
• LDC (Group C): 12th pass + typing speed 35 wpm (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi) on computer.
• Staff Car Driver (Group C): 10th pass + valid driving license for Motor Cars (LMV) + 3 years’ driving experience + knowledge of motor mechanism.
• MTS (Group C): Matriculation/equivalent OR ITI pass in relevant subject.

Selection Process

1. Online Computer Based Test (CBT)
2. Skill Test / Typing Test / Driving Test (where applicable)
3. Interview (for Group A posts only)
4. Document Verification

Additional points:

• Group A: CBT (70 marks) + Interview (30 marks).
• Group B & C: Selection based on CBT (100 marks) followed by skill test wherever required.
• Negative marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in CBT; no negative marking for MTS.
• Minimum qualifying standard in CBT: 25% for SC/ST/PwBD; 30% for others.

Exam Pattern

Mode: Online CBT (Computer Based Test)

Exam Duration:

• Group A: 100 minutes (PwBD: 130 minutes)
• Group B & C: 100 minutes (PwBD: 130 minutes)

Indicative CBT Marks Distribution (as per syllabus tables in notification):

• Group A (Research Officer posts):

  • Subject/Discipline: 40 marks
  • Research Methodology & Bio-statistics (clinical research conduct, GCP, protocol development, study design, bioethics etc.): 20 marks
  • General Awareness / Reasoning / IT & Computing: 10 marks
  • Total: 70 marks

• Group B (examples as per notification):

  • Most Group B posts: Subject: 70, General Awareness/Aptitude/Reasoning: 20, IT & Computing: 10 (Total 100)
  • Hindi Assistant: Objective part 70 + Descriptive translation 30 (Total 100)

• Group C (examples as per notification):

  • Many Group C posts: Main subject 70 + General Knowledge/Aptitude/Reasoning 20 + IT & Computing 10 (Total 100)

Skill Tests (where applicable):

• Stenographer Grade-III: Skill test after CBT; dictation 10 minutes at 80 wpm; transcription time: English 50 min (PwBD 70), Hindi 65 min (PwBD 90). Skill test is qualifying.
• LDC: Typing test is mandatory and qualifying; 35 wpm English or 30 wpm Hindi; time 10 minutes (VH compensatory time 30 minutes).
• Staff Car Driver: Driving test is mandatory and qualifying.

Note: For Research Officer (Unani), NPA is admissible as per Government of India rules.
