The application fee is payable online through SBI Collect in favour of the Director, CSIR-NGRI. Candidates applying for more than one post code must submit a separate application and separate fee payment receipt for each post code. The fee is non-refundable.
Age Limit
The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 28 years as on the closing date of online application, i.e. 04/10/2026.

SC/ST/OBC age relaxation is applicable only where the relevant post is reserved for the respective category. OBC candidates must possess a valid Central Government OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 01/04/2026 and not later than the closing date. EWS candidates must submit an Income and Asset Certificate based on Financial Year 2025–2026, issued on or after 01/04/2026.

Out of the 15 UR posts, one post is reserved for PwBD-OH, one post for PwBD-HH and two posts for Ex-Servicemen. PwBD reservation is horizontal in nature.
Eligibility / Qualification
Candidates must have passed SSC/10th Standard or an equivalent examination with Science subjects and secured at least 55% marks. The relevant qualification for each trade may be fulfilled through any one of the following routes:
- Relevant ITI Certificate or National/State Trade Certificate.
- Two years of full-time experience as an apprentice trainee from a recognised institution in the relevant trade.
- Three years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Ministry, Department, Organisation, Public Sector Undertaking or Autonomous Body under the Government of India, State Government or Union Territory.

All qualifications and experience must be obtained from recognised institutions or organisations. Equivalent qualifications must be supported by an official equivalence order or letter. Experience certificates must clearly mention the employment period, pay details, designation, duties and duration of service. Part-time, daily-wage, visiting or guest-faculty experience will not be counted for shortlisting.
Selection Process
- Screening of applications and shortlisting by the duly constituted Screening Committee.
- Trade Test in the relevant trade to assess practical knowledge and suitability for the job requirements.
- Competitive Written Examination for candidates qualifying in the Trade Test.
- Document Verification and verification of certificates, character and antecedents.
- Final merit will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III of the Competitive Written Examination, subject to qualifying the required threshold in Paper-I.
The Trade Test is qualifying in nature. The Screening Committee may adopt its own criteria for shortlisting candidates. The final decision of the Selection Committee will be binding.
Exam Pattern
The Competitive Written Examination will be OMR-based or Computer-Based, objective type and multiple choice. Questions will be set in English and Hindi, except questions on the English Language. The examination standard will be SSC + ITI / XII Standard.

The Concerned Subject will be based on the advertised qualification and trade of the post. Paper-II and Paper-III will be evaluated only for candidates securing the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I as determined by the Selection Committee.
Salary / Pay Scale
The Technician posts carry Pay Level-02 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, with a pay scale of ₹19,900–₹63,200. The approximate gross monthly emoluments are ₹39,970, calculated on the minimum pay of the level including House Rent Allowance in a Class X city.
Selected employees will also be eligible for admissible Central Government/CSIR allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance, subject to applicable rules. Other benefits include medical expense reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession and Children’s Education Allowance. New entrants will generally be governed by the National Pension System or the applicable defined-contribution pension system.
Service Conditions and Important Instructions
- Applicants must be citizens of India.
- The posts carry All India Service Liability; selected candidates may be required to serve anywhere in India.
- Selected candidates may be transferred to any CSIR laboratory, institute or unit anywhere in India.
- The selected candidates will be placed on probation for the period prescribed under applicable rules.
- Candidates currently employed as regular employees in CSIR, Government organisations, autonomous bodies, statutory bodies, universities or PSUs must upload a No Objection Certificate and the certificate for claiming age relaxation, wherever applicable.
- Ex-Servicemen must upload a scanned copy of their Discharge Certificate.
- Candidates must upload a recent passport-size colour photograph, signature, educational certificates, ITI/trade certificates, experience certificates and applicable category certificates.
- Candidates claiming SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer/EWS/PwBD or Ex-Servicemen benefits must upload certificates in the prescribed Government of India format and produce originals when required.
- OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates must also submit the prescribed declaration confirming that they do not belong to the Creamy Layer.
- PwBD candidates with at least 40% relevant benchmark disability may claim applicable concessions. Eligible candidates may receive a scribe and compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination, subject to prescribed conditions and supporting certificates.
- Candidates must select Hindi or English as the examination medium in the online application. If no medium is selected, English will be treated as the chosen medium, and the selected medium cannot later be changed.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Trade Test, Competitive Written Examination or Document Verification.
- Incomplete applications, applications without required documents or applications submitted after the prescribed deadline will be rejected.
- Any false information, forged document, concealment of facts, impersonation, unfair means or possession of mobile phones/electronic devices in the examination hall may lead to cancellation, debarment, termination of service and legal action.
- Candidates should regularly visit the CSIR-NGRI website for examination dates, call letters, corrigenda and recruitment updates. No separate call letter or individual intimation will be sent by post.
