The High Court of Delhi, New Delhi, has invited online applications for the Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant Examination 2026. A total of 150 vacancies are available, including 117 posts of Senior Personal Assistant and 33 posts of Personal Assistant. The fee is non-refundable and applicable transaction charges are payable separately. Eligible PwBD candidates covered under the disabilities specified in the notice must have a benchmark disability of 40% or more. The fee can be paid online through UPI, net banking, credit card or debit card.
Candidates applying for both posts must submit separate applications and pay the prescribed fee separately for each post.
During the correction window, correction charges are ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction, applicable to all candidates irrespective of category or gender. Correction charges can be paid only through online payment methods and are non-refundable.
Age Limit
The candidate must be aged between 18 and 32 years as on 01/01/2026. The candidate should have been born between 02/01/1994 and 01/01/2008, both dates inclusive.

Disabled Defence Services personnel may receive relaxation up to 45 years, or 50 years for SC/ST candidates. There is no upper age limit for persons in regular service of the Delhi High Court, subject to fulfilment of the required educational qualifications. This special relaxation does not apply to employees of other government departments, public sector undertakings or Delhi District Courts.
The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary Examination Certificate, mark sheet or equivalent certificate will be accepted for determining age eligibility.

Eligibility / Qualification
Senior Personal Assistant
- Graduation from a recognised university.
- Minimum English shorthand speed of 110 words per minute.
- Minimum English computer typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
Personal Assistant
- Graduation from a recognised university.
- Minimum English shorthand speed of 100 words per minute.
- Minimum English computer typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
The educational qualification and final result must have been declared on or before the closing date of online applications, i.e. 05/10/2026. Qualifications must be awarded by a university, institution or board recognised by the Government of India or approved by the relevant regulatory authority.
Applications are open to citizens of India and eligible subjects of Nepal. Subjects of Nepal must possess an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India before appointment.
Reservation Details
Direct recruitment reservation is provided as follows, subject to applicable government instructions:
- Scheduled Castes: 15%
- Scheduled Tribes: 7.5%
- OBC-NCL: 27%
- EWS: 10%
- PwBD: 4% on a horizontal basis
Candidates claiming reservation, fee concession or age relaxation must possess valid certificates issued by the competent authority on or before 05/10/2026. OBC candidates must have an OBC certificate issued by the competent authority of the Government of NCT of Delhi for a caste recognised as OBC in Delhi. Where required, the OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate must have been issued during the financial year 2026-2027, between 01/04/2026 and 31/03/2027.
EWS candidates must possess a valid Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format on the last date of application. PwBD reservation and related relaxation are available only for candidates having at least 40% disability in the disability categories specified in the notice.
Selection Process
The selection process for both posts consists of the following stages:
- English Typing Test — qualifying in nature.
- English Shorthand Test.
- Main Descriptive Examination.
- Interview.
- Document Verification before final appointment.
Candidates must qualify every stage individually, including the typing and shorthand tests. No exemption, scribe facility or compensatory time will be provided to PwBD candidates in any stage of the examination.
The final merit list will be prepared by adding marks obtained in the English Shorthand Test, Main Descriptive Examination and Interview. The English Typing Test will be qualifying only. In case of a tie, preference will be given successively on the basis of shorthand marks, descriptive examination marks, interview marks and older date of birth.

In the Senior Personal Assistant shorthand test, up to 27.5 mistakes are permissible. Four marks are deducted for each full mistake and two marks for each half mistake. More than 27.5 mistakes result in disqualification. Candidates receive two shorthand dictation-transcription opportunities, and the better performance is considered.
The minimum passing marks in the Main Descriptive Examination are 50 marks for General category candidates and 45 marks for reserved category candidates, including PwBD candidates.

In the Personal Assistant shorthand test, up to 25 mistakes are permissible. Four marks are deducted for each full mistake and two marks for each half mistake. More than 25 mistakes result in disqualification. Candidates receive two shorthand dictation-transcription opportunities, and the better performance is considered.
The Main Descriptive Examination comprises:
- Essay of 250 words: 40 marks
- Letter writing: 15 marks
- Grammar and comprehension passage: 25 marks
- Hindi to English translation: 10 marks
- English to Hindi translation: 10 marks
The minimum passing marks specified for reserved category candidates, including PwBD candidates, are 45 marks out of 100. There are no minimum qualifying marks in the interview.
Application Requirements
Applications must be submitted online through the Delhi High Court website. No offline application will be accepted. Candidates must register using an active email ID and mobile number and retain the system-generated registration or application number and Confirmation Page.
Candidates must upload the following documents in the prescribed format:
- Recent colour passport-size photograph in JPEG format, between 100 KB and 200 KB.
- Photograph approximately 3.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm high, not more than three months old, without cap, mask or spectacles.
- The face should cover approximately 75% of the photograph, with the candidate looking directly at the camera and both ear lobes visible.
- Live photograph captured through a webcam or mobile device.
- Left-hand thumb impression in JPEG format between 50 KB and 200 KB. The right-hand thumb impression may be used if the left-hand thumb is unavailable.
- Scanned signature in JPEG format between 50 KB and 150 KB.
The live photograph must match the uploaded passport-size photograph. An improper, mismatched, illegible or blurred upload may lead to rejection or cancellation of candidature. Writing the full name in capital letters will not be accepted as a signature.
Candidates already working in government service must inform their department or office and produce a No Objection Certificate at the Document Verification or Interview stage, if required.
General Instructions
- The examination medium will be English only.
- Candidates must enter their name, date of birth and parent or spouse name exactly as recorded in the Matriculation Certificate.
- At every examination stage, candidates must carry two identical passport-size colour photographs uploaded with the application and one original photo identity proof.
- Accepted identity documents include Aadhaar card, e-Aadhaar printout, driving licence, voter ID card, PAN card, university or college identity card, government identity card, employer identity card, ESM discharge book or another photo identity card issued by the Central or State Government.
- If the identity document does not show the date of birth, an additional original date-of-birth certificate must be carried.
- Candidature remains provisional until verification of educational, category, disability and other documents.
- Delhi High Court may alter vacancies, modify the examination process or fix minimum cut-off marks.
- No re-evaluation or re-checking of examination scores will be allowed.
- No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the skill tests, written examination or interview.
- Selected candidates may be required to work beyond normal office hours, on holidays or at the residential office of a Judge, whenever required.
- Candidates should regularly check the Delhi High Court website for updates regarding the admit card, examination schedule, result and interview.
Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Personal Assistants and Personal Assistants may be required to perform the following duties:
- Take dictation of court proceedings, orders, judgments and official matters and accurately transcribe them.
- Type and verify orders, judgments and other official documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Authenticate, digitally sign and upload signed orders and judgments through designated systems.
- Maintain registers relating to uploaded orders, including case number and upload details.
- Assist the Private Secretary in secretarial and administrative functions.
- Maintain and safely custody judicial records, administrative files, briefs, paper books and personal papers.
- Ensure proper tagging, pagination and placement of signed orders and judgments in case files.
- Coordinate with the Court Master, Registry and other branches for timely movement and production of records.
- Maintain confidentiality of judicial proceedings, draft judgments, official correspondence and sensitive information.
- Safely handle electronic records, passwords, digital files and storage devices.
- Prevent unauthorised access, copying, downloading, transmission, disclosure or misuse of official records and data.
- Upload, retrieve, process and manage documents through the electronic systems of the Court.
- Receive, acknowledge and maintain proper custody of official documents and records.
- Perform other secretarial, judicial, administrative and ancillary duties assigned by the Judge or Private Secretary.
