Opening Overview

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), through the ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB), has invited online applications for Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ posts in Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science disciplines. A total of 175 vacancies are available at constituent ISRO Centres and the autonomous body Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). Eligible candidates holding a relevant BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree with at least 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10 can apply online from 27/08/2026 to 16/09/2026.

Application Fee

The fee must be paid online through the Bharatkosh e-Payment Gateway using Internet Banking, UPI or domestic Debit Card. Cash, cheque, demand draft, money order, IPO or any other payment mode will not be accepted. Applicable service charges will be borne by the applicant. The refund will be credited to the bank account details provided in the application. No refund will be given to candidates who do not appear in the Written Test/CBT.

Age Limit

The maximum age is 28 years as on 16/09/2026. Serving Central Government civilian employees, Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation according to the applicable Government of India orders.

Vacancy Details

The notified vacancies are provisional. ISRO may increase or decrease the number of vacancies through a corrigendum published on its official website.

PwBD Vacancy Identification

The vacancies identified for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are category-wise as follows:

PwBD categories include blindness and low vision, deafness and hard of hearing, locomotor disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities. Backlog PwBD vacancies may be interchanged among the five disability categories if suitable candidates are not available. Candidates with at least 40% relevant disability are eligible for reservation.

Eligibility / Qualification

Additional eligibility conditions:

• Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
• Graduation must have been completed within the stipulated duration prescribed by the concerned University.
• Allied disciplines accepted under the specified BE/B.Tech branches are detailed in the official ISRO FAQs.
• Where both percentage and CGPA are mentioned, at least one of them must meet the DOS/ISRO eligibility standard.
• If only CGPA is mentioned, the stated CGPA must meet the required standard. Conversion of CGPA into percentage is not permitted for determining eligibility.
• For Dual or Integrated Degree programmes, the graduation-level CGPA or percentage will be considered when separately specified. If a common CGPA or percentage is given for the entire course, the final cumulative figure will be considered.
• Candidates employed with Central or State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies must submit an original No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of interview or whenever required.

Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on Written Test/CBT performance in a maximum ratio of 1:5, with an aggregate minimum of 10 candidates. For reserved vacancies, distinct or additional candidates may be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:5.

Exam Pattern

Part B will include Numerical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Diagrammatic Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning and Deductive Reasoning.

Written Test Qualifying Criteria

Interview and Final Selection Criteria

The interview will carry 100 marks and candidates will be assessed on the following attributes:

Academic achievements may include the type of institute, academic performance and rank awarded by the institute. Institute-related marks may be awarded for IITs, IISc, IIST, NITs and institutes ranked among the NIRF Top 20. Academic performance may receive 4 marks for CGPA of 9 or above or percentage of 85% or above, and 2 marks for CGPA from 7.5 to below 9 or percentage from 71% to 85%. Up to 3 marks may be awarded for institute rank from 1 to 3.

The final panel will be prepared by assigning 50% weightage to Written Test marks and 50% weightage to Interview marks. In case of a tie, the tie-breakers will be applied in the following order:

1. Marks obtained in the Written Test/CBT.
2. Marks obtained in the essential qualification.
3. Date of birth, with the older candidate placed higher.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed as Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Level 10 of the Pay Matrix with a minimum basic pay of ₹56,100 per month. In addition, candidates will be eligible for Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance as per applicable Central Government rules.

Other benefits may include New Pension Scheme coverage, medical facilities for employees and dependants, subsidised canteen facilities, limited residential accommodation in lieu of HRA, Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance and House Building Advance.

Written Test Centres

The Written Test/CBT is proposed to be conducted at the following 37 venues: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh/Mohali, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Ernakulam, Gorakhpur, Gurugram, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kavaratti, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Tiruchirapalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

ICRB reserves the right to cancel or change the examination venue and re-allot candidates to another test centre. Written Test/CBT call letters will be sent only to the registered email ID.

Documents and Important Instructions

Candidates must upload clear scanned copies of the following documents with the online application:

• Recent colour passport-size photograph, not older than three months, in JPG or JPEG format, preferably 200 × 230 pixels and 100 KB to 200 KB in size.
• Signature in black ink on white paper, not in capital letters, preferably 140 × 60 pixels and 80 KB to 150 KB in size.
• Applicable SC, ST, PwBD or Ex-Servicemen certificate for claiming full refund of the processing fee.

Candidates must preserve the online registration number and regularly check their registered email account, including the spam or junk folder, and the ISRO website. Original documents supporting qualification, age, category and employment status must be produced whenever required.

Candidates attending the interview will be reimbursed to and fro second-class train fare by the shortest route from the city mentioned in the online application to the interview venue. No Travelling Allowance will be paid for attending the Written Test/CBT. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification. Appointees may be posted or transferred to any ISRO Centre or Unit under the Department of Space according to organisational requirements.

The answer keys will be published on the ISRO website within three working days of the Written Test/CBT. Candidates may submit objections with valid justification within five days of publication, only through the link provided by ISRO. Objections received after the deadline or through any other mode will not be considered.
