Jharkhand Government JHTET 2026 Notification - Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (No. of Posts Not Mentioned)

Jharkhand Government, School Education & Literacy Department (Primary Education Directorate) has issued the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2026 (JHTET 2026) for eligibility to be appointed as a teacher in Classes 1 to 8 in the state. The JHTET will be conducted for Primary Level (Class 1–5) and Upper Primary Level (Class 6–8) as per NCTE guidelines.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: As per Jharkhand Government service rules (Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms & Rajbhasha, Jharkhand, Ranchi)

  • Special Provision (One Time): If there is a gap of more than one year between the last eligibility test and the next eligibility test, then one-time relaxation of 1 year may be provided in the maximum age limit.

Eligibility / Qualification

A) Primary Level (Class 1 to 5)

Candidate must be an Indian citizen and meet any one of the following:

  1. Senior Secondary (+2) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) (or equivalent) (as per NCTE norms; includes those admitted in D.El.Ed. on or after 09/12/2007).

  2. Senior Secondary (+2) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) (as per NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002; includes those admitted in D.El.Ed. before 09/12/2007).

  3. Senior Secondary (+2) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).

  4. Senior Secondary (+2) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

  5. Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).

B) Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8)

Candidate must be an Indian citizen and meet any one of the following:

  1. Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).

  2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (for those admitted in B.Ed. on or after 29/07/2011 as per applicable norms).

  3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (as per applicable NCTE norms; for those admitted before 29/07/2011).

  4. Senior Secondary (+2) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A.Ed. / B.A. B.Sc. Ed. / B.Sc.Ed..

  5. Senior Secondary (+2) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Ed. or B.A.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed..

  6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. (Special Education).

  7. Post Graduation with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) and 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.

Subject Requirement (Class 6–8): For teaching Mathematics & Science, Social Science, and Language, the candidate should have graduation in the relevant subject stream as per degree specification norms.

C) Special Trained Assistant Teacher (Special Education)

For Primary Level (Class 1–5)

Candidate must fulfill the Primary Level eligibility above and also have any one of the following special education qualifications (RCI / recognized):

  • 12th pass + 2-year D.Ed. Special Education (in any disability category)
  • 12th pass + 1-year Diploma in Special Education (DSE) (in any disability category)
  • Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (DCBR) with 6 months certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs
  • PG Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (PGDCBR) with 6 months certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs
  • Diploma in Multi Rehabilitation Worker (MRW) with 6 months certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs
  • Junior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf
  • Primary level teacher training course in Visual Impairment
  • Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation – Mental Retardation (DVR-MR) / Diploma in Vocational Training and Employment – Mental Retardation (DVTE-MR) with 6 months certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs
  • Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech (DHLS) with 6 months certificate course in Education of Children with Special Needs

For Upper Primary Level (Class 6–8)

  • Graduate with B.Ed. (Special Education) from an RCI approved institute and must have a valid RCI CRR number

OR

  • B.Ed. (General) with 1-year / 2-year Diploma in Special Education (Certificate/Diploma/PG qualification) from an RCI approved / recognized institute

OR

  • Other listed PG professional diploma/certificate qualifications in Special Education (as mentioned in the rules) with valid recognition.

Reservation / Relaxation in Qualifying Marks

  • For SC / ST / Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) / Backward Class-1 / Backward Class-2 / Persons with Disabilities, relaxation of 5% in the required educational marks is applicable as per rules.

Selection Process

  1. Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET) Written Examination
  2. Issuance of Eligibility Certificate by the notified Exam Authority (validity: lifetime)

Exam Pattern

  • The exam will be conducted at two levels:
    • Primary Level: Class 1 to 5
    • Upper Primary Level: Class 6 to 8
  • A candidate may appear in one or both levels.
  • Duration:
    • Primary (Class 1–5): 2 Hours 30 Minutes
    • Upper Primary (Class 6–8): 2 Hours 30 Minutes
    • Additional 30 minutes for candidates with visual impairment / cerebral palsy / both hands disability, and scribe facility will be provided.
  • Questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
  • The paper will be in Hindi and English; for language subjects, questions will be in the respective language.
  • The exam is objective and no negative marking is mentioned in the rules.
