Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD, ex-servicemen, government employees, and other eligible categories will be available according to applicable Central Government rules. A 5-year relaxation may be available to eligible candidates serving in Government organizations in the same or allied cadres where the previous service is considered useful for the advertised post.

PwBD reservation includes eligible candidates with locomotor disability, including leprosy-cured persons, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy; hard of hearing; and multiple disabilities. The essential qualification must have been obtained by the closing date. Claims of possessing an equivalent qualification will not be accepted. Qualifications obtained through approved Open or Distance Education modes may be considered as per applicable Central Government recognition requirements. No experience is required.
Selection Process
- Candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions and successfully registering on the NIC recruitment portal will be considered.
- Discipline-wise and category-wise merit lists will be prepared based on GATE score.
- Equal weightage will be given to GATE 2024, GATE 2025, and GATE 2026 scores.
- Candidates will be shortlisted for document verification according to the available vacancies.
- Eligible candidates will be offered provisional appointment after successful document verification and fulfillment of all other conditions.
Tie-Breaking Criteria
In case of equal GATE scores, the following criteria will be applied in sequence:
- The candidate with the older GATE score year will be ranked higher.
- If the score year is also the same, the older candidate will be ranked higher.
- If the tie continues, the candidate with the higher percentage in the essential qualification will be ranked higher.
Salary / Pay Scale
The post of Scientific/Technical Assistant-A is a Group-B S&T non-gazetted post in Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, carrying a pay scale of ₹35,400–₹1,12,400, along with applicable Central Government allowances and benefits.
Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates must appear for document verification with the downloaded authorization letter and original documents. Document verification may be conducted in Delhi or at another location or through another mode approved by the competent authority. Requests for postponement or change of location will not be accepted, and no TA/DA will be paid.
Candidates must produce the following documents, wherever applicable:
- Date of birth proof, such as a birth certificate or Matriculation/High School certificate.
- Matriculation and Senior Secondary certificates or marksheets.
- Valid GATE scorecard for 2024, 2025, or 2026.
- Essential qualification certificate, marksheets, final degree certificate, or provisional pass certificate.
- CGPA conversion certificate from the University Registrar, where applicable.
- SC/ST, OBC (NCL), or EWS certificate in the prescribed Government of India format.
- PwBD certificate showing at least 40% permanent disability, where applicable.
- No Objection Certificate for candidates working in Government departments, PSUs, aided institutions, or autonomous bodies.
- In-service age relaxation certificate, where applicable.
- Ex-serviceman certificate, where applicable.
- Gazette notification for change of name, where applicable.
- Aadhaar card for Aadhaar-based authentication and another valid government photo identity proof.
- One recent passport-size colour photograph.
OBC (NCL) candidates must submit a valid certificate for appointment to posts under the Government of India and must belong to the Central OBC list. State OBC certificates or certificates issued for educational admission will not be accepted. EWS candidates must possess a valid certificate based on Financial Year 2025-26, valid for 2026-27.
Important Instructions
