Opening Overview
Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released Centralised Employment Notification CEN 02/2026 for recruitment of Technician Grade I Signal (Level 5) and Technician Grade III (Level 2) posts. A total of 6,557 vacancies are available across all RRBs. The online application will be accepted from 30/06/2026 to 29/07/2026 (23:59 hrs).

Refund Rule (only if candidate appears in CBT):
- From ₹500 fee, ₹400 will be refunded (bank charges deducted).
- From ₹250 fee, ₹250 will be refunded (bank charges deducted).
- Refund is credited only to Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
Age Limit
Age is calculated as on 01/07/2026:
- Technician Grade I Signal (Level 5): 18 to 33 years
- Technician Grade III (Level 2): 18 to 30 years
Upper Age Relaxation (key points as per CEN):
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC (NCL): 3 years
- Ex-Servicemen: as per rules (after deduction of service length) with different limits by category
- PwBD: UR/EWS 10 years, OBC(NCL) 13 years, SC/ST 15 years
- Railway staff with minimum 3 years service: UR/EWS up to 40 years, OBC(NCL) up to 43 years, SC/ST up to 45 years
- Widowed/Divorced/Judicially separated women (not remarried): UR/EWS 35 years, OBC(NCL) 38 years, SC/ST 40 years
- Course Completed Act Apprentices (where ITI/CCAA is minimum): relaxation up to apprenticeship training period (max 3 years)
Date of Birth Range (both dates inclusive):
- For 18–33: UR/EWS not earlier than 02/07/1993, OBC(NCL) 02/07/1990, SC/ST 02/07/1988, and not later than 01/07/2008

Eligibility / Qualification
Candidates must possess the required qualification on or before 29/07/2026. Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible.
Technician Grade I Signal (Level 5)
- B.Sc in Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / Information Technology / Instrumentation from a recognized University/Institute OR
- B.Sc in a combination of any sub-stream of the above basic streams OR
- 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the above basic streams / combination OR
- Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams / combination
Technician Grade III (Level 2) (Trade-wise)
- Generally: Matriculation / SSLC + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in the notified trade OR
- Matriculation / SSLC + Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) in the notified trade

- Track Machine: ITI/CCAA in Fitter / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Instrument Mechanic / Mechanic Mechatronics / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Welder / Machinist
- Blacksmith: ITI/CCAA in Forger & Heat Treater / Foundryman / Pattern Maker / Moulder (Refractory)
- Bridge: ITI/CCAA in Fitter / Fitter (Structural) / Welder
- (S & T): Matric + ITI/CCAA in Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Wireman OR 10+2 with Physics and Maths
- Crane Driver: ITI/CCAA in Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) / Material Handling Equipment cum Operator / Crane Operator / Operator Locomotive and Rail Cranes
Important note from CEN: Diploma/Degree in Engineering will not be accepted in lieu of ITI/CCAA for Level 2 posts unless specifically mentioned.
Selection Process
- Computer Based Test (CBT) (separate CBT for each Pay Level)
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination (ME)
Shortlisting for DV/ME: RRB-wise at 1:1 of vacancies based on CBT merit (normalisation applicable for multiple shifts).
Exam Pattern
Negative Marking: 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in CBT.
CBT for Technician Grade I Signal (Pay Level 5)

- Minimum qualifying marks: UR 40%, EWS 40%, OBC(NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25% (PwBD relaxation up to 2 marks in case of shortage)
