The Board reserves the right to modify the examination dates, timings and centres. Candidates must appear in all papers and shifts applicable to their cadre.

Payment must be made online through debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS, cash card, mobile wallet or UPI. Bank and transaction charges are payable by the candidate. The fee is non-refundable. The application correction fee during the edit window is ₹200 inclusive of GST, applicable uniformly to all candidates.
Age Limit
The age limit will be calculated as on 01/04/2026. Candidates must have attained 21 years and must not have attained 30 years. Candidates must have been born between 02/04/1996 and 01/04/2005, both dates inclusive.
Upper-age relaxation is available as follows, subject to the conditions specified in the notification:
- SC/ST candidates: Up to 5 years, where the post is reserved for them.
- Eligible OBC candidates: Up to 3 years, where the post is reserved for them.
- Certain retrenched government employees and eligible former banking employees: Up to 5 years.
- Eligible ex-servicemen, including ECOs and SSCOs: Up to 5 years.
- General/EWS PwBD candidates: Up to 10 years.
- SC/ST PwBD candidates: Up to 15 years.
- OBC PwBD candidates: Up to 13 years.
- Candidates possessing M.Phil. qualification: Upper age limit of 32 years.
- Candidates possessing Ph.D. qualification: Upper age limit of 34 years.
- Eligible experience in scheduled commercial banks, public sector insurance companies, All India Financial Institutions or RBI may provide relaxation equal to completed years of experience, subject to a maximum of 3 years and an upper age limit of 33 years.
- For DEPR/DSIM candidates with relevant research or teaching experience, relaxation may be allowed for the period of experience, subject to a maximum of 3 years.
Cumulative age relaxation is generally not permitted except for the combinations specifically allowed for SC/ST/OBC candidates who are also ex-servicemen or PwBD candidates.

DEPR means Department of Economic and Policy Research. DSIM means Department of Statistics and Information Management. PwBD reservation is horizontal and operates within the overall vacancies.
Eligibility / Qualification
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – General
Candidates must possess either:
- Graduation in any discipline or an equivalent technical/professional qualification with at least 60% marks in aggregate of all semesters or years. The minimum is 50% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, where the post is reserved for them; or
- Postgraduation in any discipline or an equivalent technical/professional qualification with at least 55% marks in aggregate. SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying against reserved vacancies are required to have pass marks.
The graduation course must be completed after Class 12 and must have a duration of at least three years. The postgraduation course must be completed after graduation and must have a duration of at least two years. Equivalent professional or technical qualifications recognised by the Government are also eligible.
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR
Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications from a recognised Indian or foreign university or institute:
- MA/MSc in Economics; or
- MA/MSc in Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Applied Economics, Econometrics, Financial Economics, Business Economics, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Economics, Development Economics or International Economics, where Economics is the principal constituent of the curriculum; or
- MA/MSc in Finance, Quantitative Finance, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Techniques, International Finance, Business Finance, Banking and Trade Finance, International and Trade Finance, Corporate Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance or Agri Business Finance, where Finance is the principal constituent of the curriculum.
At least 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters or years is required. For SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying against reserved vacancies, the minimum is 50% marks. A doctorate, research or teaching experience in Economics, or publications in standard journals are desirable.
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM
Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications from a recognised institution approved or recognised by the Government, UGC or AICTE:
- Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in Statistics, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Econometrics, Informatics or a related subject; or
- Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics or a related subject; or
- Four-year bachelor’s degree with at least 60% marks in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Econometrics, Informatics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics or a related subject.
For SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying against reserved vacancies, the minimum qualifying marks are 50%. A doctorate, research or teaching experience and publications in standard journals are desirable.
The qualifying degree must be from a university established under law, a deemed university recognised under the UGC Act, 1956, or a foreign university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Where CGPA or equivalent grade is not converted into percentage by the institution, the notification provides the following indicative conversion on a 10-point scale: 6.75 equals 60%, 6.25 equals 55% and 5.75 equals 50%.
Nationality
A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 01/01/1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India. Candidates requiring a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India may be admitted provisionally, but appointment will be offered only after the certificate is issued.
Number of Attempts
General and EWS candidates who have already appeared six times in the Phase-I examination for the relevant Grade B post or posts are not eligible to apply. This restriction does not apply to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates where the posts are reserved for them.
Selection Process
Selection will be conducted through the following stages:
- Phase-I online or written examination, as applicable to the cadre.
- Phase-II online or written examination.
- Personality Assessment before the Interview. No marks are awarded for the Personality Assessment.
- Interview carrying 75 marks.
- Final merit list based on the prescribed examination marks and Interview marks. Applicable grace marks may also be considered according to prevailing rules.
For Grade B General, candidates are shortlisted for Phase-II based on sectional and aggregate Phase-I performance. Candidates are shortlisted for the Interview based on Phase-II marks. For DEPR and DSIM, candidates are shortlisted for the later examination papers based on the prescribed Phase-I cut-off.

Separate time is allotted for each test. Candidates must secure the minimum marks prescribed separately for each test and in aggregate. The notification does not specify the negative-marking details in the extracted examination scheme.

For Papers I and III, the objective section contains 30 questions for 50 marks. The descriptive section contains 6 questions, of which candidates must attempt 4: two questions of 15 marks each and two questions of 10 marks each. If more than four descriptive questions are answered, only the first four will be evaluated. Except for English, question papers are set bilingually in Hindi and English.

Phase-I Economics covers microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, economic growth and development, public finance, environmental economics, quantitative methods and current developments in the Indian economy.

Grade B DSIM Syllabus
The standard of the papers is that of a postgraduate degree examination. Major areas include probability theory, probability distributions, sampling theory, linear models, economic statistics, statistical inference, estimation, hypothesis testing, non-parametric tests, stochastic processes, multivariate analysis, econometrics, time series, optimisation, statistical computing, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, databases and data warehouse management.
Important topics include regression models, panel data, ARIMA and SARIMA models, ARCH/GARCH models, Bayesian methods, Markov Chain Monte Carlo, neural networks, random forests, boosting, recurrent and convolutional neural networks, natural language processing, SQL, NoSQL databases, database joins, indexing, ETL, OLAP, OLTP and big-data storage systems.
Salary / Pay Scale
Selected candidates will receive a starting basic pay of ₹78,450 per month in the pay scale of ₹78,450-4,050(9)-1,14,900-EB-4,050(2)-1,23,000-4,650(4)-1,41,600, applicable over 16 years. Candidates will also receive Special Allowance, Grade Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Local Compensatory Allowance, Special Grade Allowance, Learning Allowance and House Rent Allowance as per RBI rules.
The initial monthly gross emoluments are approximately ₹1,54,936 excluding HRA. HRA at 15% of pay is payable where RBI accommodation is not provided. Up to four advance increments may be considered at the Bank’s discretion for candidates with exceptional academic or professional qualifications or significant relevant experience.
Service Conditions and Important Instructions
- Initial appointment is on probation for two years, which may be extended up to four years at the Bank’s discretion.
- Selected candidates may be posted or transferred anywhere in India.
- Selected candidates are covered by the Defined Contribution New Pension Scheme and are also eligible for gratuity.
- RBI accommodation, medical facilities, leave fare concession, loans and advances at concessional rates and other benefits are available according to eligibility and prevailing rules.
- Candidates must carry the Admit Card, an original valid photo identity proof and a photocopy of the identity proof to every examination shift.
- Ration cards and learner’s driving licences are not accepted as valid identity proof.
- Mobile phones, pagers, smart watches, cameras, Bluetooth devices, pen drives, programmable devices and physical calculators are prohibited at the examination venue.
- PwBD candidates eligible for a scribe may receive compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination. The scribe’s qualification must be one level below that of the candidate.
- Candidates must indicate their requirement for a scribe or compensatory time in the online application itself.
- Free online pre-examination training is available for eligible SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates applying for Grade B General. Training does not guarantee admission to the examination or recruitment.
- Candidates working in government departments, public sector undertakings, public sector banks, financial institutions or similar organisations must inform their employer before applying.
