Opening Overview
Railway Recruitment Cell, North Central Railway (RRC/NCR) has released a centralized notification for engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the year 2026-27. A total of 1,853 training slots are available across Prayagraj, Agra, Jhansi Divisions, Jhansi Workshop, HQ/NCR/Prayagraj and Track Machine Line/HQ. Eligible candidates can apply online from 08/07/2026 to 07/08/2026.

Eligibility / Qualification
Candidates must have already passed the prescribed qualification on the notification date (07/07/2026).
Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed SSC/Matriculation/10th or equivalent (10+2 system) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
Technical Qualification:
- Must have passed ITI in relevant trade with certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT recognized by Government of India.
Designated trades mentioned in the notification include:
- Fitter, Welder, Armature Winder, Machinist, Wireman, Electrician, Painter, Mechanic (DSL), Computer Networking Technician, Mechanic cum Operator Electronics Communication System, Plumber, Health Sanitary Inspector, Multimedia and Web Page Designer, Electrical and Electronics, Carpenter / Wood Work Technician, Draughtsman (Civil), Stenographer (English), Stenographer (Hindi), Information & Communication Technology System Maintenance, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), Turner.
Important eligibility notes:
- Candidates whose 10th/ITI results are awaited as on 07/07/2026 are not eligible.
- Candidates who have failed in ITI should not apply.
- Engineering Graduates and Diploma holders are not eligible under this notification (separate apprenticeship scheme).
Selection Process
- Merit List Preparation: Based on merit calculated by taking the average of percentage marks obtained in:
- Matriculation (with minimum 50% aggregate marks), and
- ITI examination (Equal weightage to both)
- Document / Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called up to 1.5 times of the notified vacancies.
- Medical Fitness: Submission of Medical Fitness Certificate in prescribed format (Annexure H).
Tie-breaking rule:
- Higher age (older candidate) will be preferred.
- If date of birth is also same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier will be considered first.
There will be no written test or viva.
Salary / Pay Scale
Selected candidates will receive stipend during training as per extant rules of the concerned State Governments and Railway Board instructions. The notification does not specify a fixed stipend amount.
Training period: 1 year.
