Opening Overview

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026. Recruitment will be conducted for 1,871 tentative vacancies of Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police, CAPFs and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF. Eligible graduates can submit their applications online from 10/09/2026 to 30/09/2026.

Application Fee

The application fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay Debit Card. Fee payment must be completed by 01/10/2026 up to 23:00 hrs. Fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted against any other examination.

During the correction window, the first correction and resubmission will attract a charge of ₹200, while the second correction and resubmission will attract a charge of ₹500. Correction charges apply to all candidates, irrespective of category or gender.

Age Limit

The age will be calculated as on 01/08/2026.

• For Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs: 20 to 25 years. The candidate must have been born between 02/08/2001 and 01/08/2006.
• For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF: 18 to 30 years. The candidate must have been born between 02/08/1996 and 01/08/2008.

Candidates selected for CAPF posts may be posted anywhere in India. The Commission does not make state-wise, region-wise, zone-wise or city-wise allocation of candidates.

Eligibility / Qualification

Nationality

A candidate must be one of the following:

• Citizen of India;
• Subject of Nepal; or
• Subject of Bhutan.

Candidates who are subjects of Nepal or Bhutan must possess an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India wherever required.

Educational Qualification for SI in Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification as on the closing date of online applications. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying degree examination may apply, provided they acquire and prove the qualification by 30/09/2026.

Educational Qualification for SI (Fire) in CISF

Candidates must possess either of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized university or equivalent; or
• Matriculation or equivalent along with a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobiles, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering, or an equivalent examination from a recognized university, board or institution.

Relevant B.Tech or M.Tech qualifications may be accepted as an additional qualification, provided the required basic diploma qualification is also possessed.

Degrees and diplomas obtained through Open and Distance Learning must be recognized by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission for the relevant period. Qualifications obtained through online or distance mode in prohibited disciplines will be accepted only where permitted under applicable statutory provisions.

Driving Licence Requirement for Delhi Police

Male candidates opting for Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police must possess a valid driving licence for Light Motor Vehicle (motorcycle and car) on the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests. Male candidates without a valid LMV driving licence may be considered for CAPF posts only.

Exam Pattern

The examination consists of Paper-I, Physical Standard Test (PST) / Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). All stages are mandatory, while PST/PET and medical examination are qualifying in nature.

Paper-I

Duration: 1 hour, with a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each part.

Paper-II

Duration: 1 hour. Parts I, II and III have a sectional timer of 20 minutes each. English Comprehension carries 100 questions for 200 marks and has a duration of 1 hour as specified in the notice.

Both papers contain objective multiple-choice questions. Parts I, II and III are set in Hindi and English. Negative marking is 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II. The difficulty level of Paper-II will be higher than Paper-I.

NCC Bonus Marks

NCC certificate holders as on the closing date of applications will receive bonus marks in both Paper-I and Paper-II:

Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test

PST/PET is qualifying and elimination in nature and carries no marks. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET but must qualify the PST, written examination and medical standards.

Weight must be proportionate to height for all posts.

PET for Male Candidates

• 100-metre race in 16 seconds;
• 1.6-kilometre race in 6.5 minutes;
• Long jump of 3.65 metres in 3 chances;
• High jump of 1.2 metres in 3 chances; and
• Shot put of 16 lbs for 4.5 metres in 3 chances.

PET for Female Candidates

• 100-metre race in 18 seconds;
• 800-metre race in 4 minutes;
• Long jump of 2.7 metres in 3 chances; and
• High jump of 0.9 metre in 3 chances.

There is no minimum chest measurement requirement for female candidates. Relaxation in height or chest measurement is allowed only on production of the prescribed certificate from the competent authority.

Medical Standards

Candidates qualifying Paper-II will undergo Detailed Medical Examination. Candidates declared medically unfit may undergo Review Medical Examination, preferably on the following day.

The prescribed eyesight standards include:

• Near vision: N6 in the better eye and N9 in the worse eye;
• Distant vision: 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye;
• Vision must be without correction through glasses or surgery;
• Candidates must not have knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins or squint; and
• Candidates must possess high colour vision and be in good mental and physical health.

Selection Process

1. Computer-Based Examination Paper-I.
2. Shortlisting for Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test on the basis of Paper-I performance.
3. Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test.
4. Computer-Based Examination Paper-II for candidates qualifying PST/PET.
5. Detailed Medical Examination / Review Medical Examination.
6. Document Verification.
7. Final selection and allocation of post or force on the basis of Paper-II marks and post/force preferences.

Minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, excluding NCC bonus marks, are 30% for UR candidates, 25% for OBC/EWS candidates and 20% for all other categories. Final merit will be based mainly on Paper-II performance and the preferences submitted by the candidate after Paper-II. Post or force preferences are final and irreversible.

Salary / Pay Scale

Allowances and benefits will be admissible as per the rules of the concerned department or force. Except for SI in Delhi Police, all posts carry All India Service Liability, and selected candidates may be required to serve anywhere in India.

Document Verification and Examination Instructions

Candidates must produce original documents and copies during Document Verification, including the Matriculation or Secondary Certificate, educational qualification certificate, caste or category certificate, equivalence certificate where applicable, driving licence for male candidates opting for Delhi Police, documents related to Ex-Servicemen status, age-relaxation certificate, Delhi Police departmental certificate and No Objection Certificate where applicable.

Candidates who have not opted for Aadhaar-Based Authentication must report at the examination centre two hours before the scheduled examination time and carry the Admission Certificate, at least two recent passport-size colour photographs and an original valid photo identity proof containing the date of birth. Accepted identity documents include a Voter ID Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, educational institution ID, government or PSU employee ID, Ex-Serviceman Discharge Book or another government-issued photo ID. If the ID does not contain the date of birth, an additional original date-of-birth document must be carried.

Admission Certificates will be issued online only and will not be sent by post. Candidates should regularly check the SSC website and the concerned regional office website for examination city, centre, PET/PST, medical examination and other updates.

Post and Force Preferences

Candidates will be required to submit preferences for the following posts and forces:

• Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police;
• Sub-Inspector in Border Security Force;
• Sub-Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force;
• Sub-Inspector in Central Reserve Police Force;
• Sub-Inspector in Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force;
• Sub-Inspector in Sashastra Seema Bal; and
• Sub-Inspector (Fire) in Central Industrial Security Force.

Candidates must submit their preferences within the prescribed period. A candidate who does not submit post or force preferences will not be considered for final allocation.

Application Form and Registration Instructions

Candidates must complete One-Time Registration on the new SSC website at https://ssc.gov.in. OTR created on the old SSC website will not work on the new website. Candidates should enter their name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth and Matriculation details exactly as recorded in the Matriculation certificate.

The application module captures a live photograph. Candidates should use a well-lit place with a plain background, keep the camera at eye level, face the camera directly and avoid wearing a cap, mask or spectacles. A scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format of approximately 10–20 KB and about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm high is required. Aadhaar-authenticated candidates receive relaxation from rejection on account of photograph or signature standards as specified in the notice.

Only one application is permitted during the normal application period. Multiple applications submitted with different registration numbers may result in rejection of all applications and cancellation of candidature. The application is accepted provisionally, and eligibility documents will be verified at a later stage.

Important Examination Rules

• Marks may be normalized if the Computer-Based Examination is conducted in multiple shifts.
• Tentative answer keys will be published after the examination. Representations must be submitted online within the prescribed period at a non-refundable fee of ₹50 per question.
• There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of scores.
• Candidates selected for appointment will remain on probation for two years and may be required to undergo prescribed training or examinations.
• Unfair means, impersonation, possession of electronic gadgets, forged documents, multiple appearances, copying, taking examination material outside the hall or attempting to manipulate examination systems may lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment for one to seven years, depending on the offence.
• Candidates must preserve their application form and examination records for future reference.
