State Bank of India (SBI) has invited online applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment to the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre under Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17. A total of 9,124 vacancies, including 7,680 regular vacancies and 1,444 backlog vacancies, are available across various States and Union Territories. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/UT only and must possess proficiency in the specified local language of the opted State/UT.

Application Fee

The application fee and intimation charges are non-refundable. Payment can be made online through debit card, credit card or Internet Banking. Applicable transaction charges will be borne by the candidate.

Age Limit

The candidate must be at least 20 years old and not more than 28 years old as on 01/04/2026. Candidates must have been born between 02/04/1998 and 01/04/2006, both dates inclusive.

Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted. Trained Apprentice relaxation applies subject to the conditions specified by SBI, including engagement beginning on or after 01/01/2022 and successful completion of one year of specified branch experience on or before 31/08/2026.

Vacancy Details

The vacancies are provisional and may change according to the actual requirements of the Bank. PwBD, XS and DXS reservations are horizontal reservations and are included in the vacancies of the respective parent categories.

The overall vacancies, including regular and backlog vacancies, are 9,124. Candidates may apply for vacancies in only one State/UT and can appear in the examination from any notified examination centre. The merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise, and selected candidates will be posted in the State/UT for which they applied.

There is no provision for Inter Circle Transfer or Inter State Transfer before completion of five years of service. After five years, transfer requests may be considered only in exceptional cases such as extreme compassionate grounds or spouse grounds, at the Bank’s discretion and according to the applicable transfer policy.

Eligibility / Qualification

Educational Qualification

• The candidate must possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
• Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must have passed the IDD on or before 31/12/2026.
• Candidates appearing in the final year or final semester of graduation may apply provisionally, provided they produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 31/12/2026, if provisionally selected.
• Matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or an equivalent certificate in the Navy or Air Force after completing at least 15 years of service are also eligible, subject to the prescribed conditions.

Local Language Requirement

Candidates applying for a State/UT must be proficient in the specified local language, including reading, writing, speaking and understanding. Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 and produce the relevant mark sheet or certificate will not be required to take the Local Language Proficiency Test.

Candidates who have not studied the specified local language will have to qualify in the Local Language Proficiency Test after qualifying in the Main Examination and before joining the Bank. Failure to qualify in the language test will result in non-appointment.

Other Eligibility Conditions

• Candidates currently working in the clerical cadre of SBI are not eligible.
• Candidates previously employed in SBI in the clerical cadre who resigned from the Bank are also not eligible.
• Candidates with adverse reports relating to character, antecedents or moral turpitude are not eligible.
• Candidates must satisfy medical fitness and Know Your Employee formalities before appointment.
• Government, quasi-government, public sector undertaking, nationalised bank and financial institution employees must produce a proper discharge certificate at the time of joining, if selected.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Online Preliminary Examination.
2. Online Main Examination.
3. Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable.
4. Verification of eligibility and documents.
5. Medical fitness and completion of Know Your Employee formalities.

Preliminary Examination marks will not be added to the final merit list. Final merit will be prepared State-wise and category-wise on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to qualifying the local language test wherever applicable.

A wait list of up to 50% of vacancies, State-wise and category-wise, will be maintained. The wait list will remain valid for one year from the date of declaration of the final result and may be operated quarterly against non-joining and resignation from the current batch.

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination will be an online objective test of 100 marks with a total duration of 1 hour. Each section will have separate timing.

There will be negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer. No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for an individual test or aggregate score in the Preliminary Examination. Approximately 10 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability, will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Main Examination

The Main Examination will consist of 190 questions carrying 200 marks with a total duration of 2 hours and 40 minutes. Each test will have separate timing.

There will be negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer. SBI will prescribe the minimum aggregate qualifying marks. SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/XS/DXS candidates will receive 5% relaxation in the minimum aggregate qualifying marks. No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual subjects.

Local Language Proficiency Test

Candidates provisionally selected for a State/UT who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 will have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test.

The minimum qualifying marks will be decided by SBI. SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/XS/DXS candidates will receive 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks.

Examination Medium

The examination medium depends on the State/UT applied for. English is compulsory for the English Language and General English tests. Other tests may be available in English, Hindi and the applicable regional language, including Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, Manipuri, Odia, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu, as specified by SBI for each State/UT.

Bonus Marks for SBI Trained Apprentices

Eligible SBI Trained Apprentices may receive bonus marks equal to 2.5% of the maximum Main Examination marks, that is, 5 marks out of 200. The benefit is subject to the prescribed conditions, including commencement of apprenticeship on or after 01/01/2022, successful completion of one year of specified branch experience on or before 31/08/2026, satisfactory conduct and performance, passing the Trade Test and obtaining the joint National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC.

Salary / Pay Scale

The pay scale for Junior Associate is:

₹24,050-1,340/3-₹28,070-1,650/3-₹33,020-2,000/4-₹41,020-2,340/7-₹57,400-4,400/1-₹61,800-2,680/1-₹64,480.

The starting basic pay is ₹26,730, comprising ₹24,050 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates. The total starting emoluments at a metropolitan centre such as Mumbai are approximately ₹46,000 per month, including Dearness Allowance, other applicable allowances and two additional increments for graduate Junior Associates.

Employees are also eligible for applicable perquisites, provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme, medical facilities, Leave Fare Concession and other facilities as per SBI rules. Allowances may vary according to the place of posting.

Probation Period

Newly appointed Junior Associates will be on probation for a minimum period of six months. During probation, employees must complete e-lessons prescribed by SBI for confirmation. The probation period may be extended if the required e-lessons are not completed or if performance does not meet the Bank’s expectations.

PwBD, Scribe and Compensatory Time Provisions

SBI has provided 4% horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities under Section 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The identified categories include visual impairment, hearing impairment, locomotor disability, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities, subject to the conditions and certification requirements prescribed in the notification.

Candidates with a disability of 40% or more who have physical limitations in writing may use a scribe if they indicate this requirement in the online application. Eligible candidates using or not using a scribe may receive 20 minutes of compensatory time for every hour of examination. The candidate must arrange the scribe at their own cost and submit the prescribed undertaking. A candidate using a scribe contrary to the applicable guidelines may be disqualified.

Candidates with less than 40% disability who have difficulty in writing may avail the scribe and/or compensatory time facility by producing the prescribed certificate from a competent medical authority of a Government healthcare institution. If a candidate brings their own scribe, the scribe’s qualification must be one level below that of the candidate.

Examination and Call Letter Instructions

• Preliminary and Main Examination call letters will be available online; no hard copy will be sent by post.
• Candidates should download the Preliminary Examination call letter and the Acquaint Yourself booklet approximately 10 days before the examination.
• Candidates appearing for the Main Examination must bring the authenticated Preliminary Examination call letter, authenticated copy of the ID proof and the Main Examination call letter.
• Candidates must bring two additional photographs identical to the photograph pasted on the call letter.
• Candidates without the required photograph on the call letter or without two additional photographs will not be allowed to appear for the examination.
• Candidates must bring an original photo identity proof and a self-attested photocopy. Acceptable identity documents include passport, Aadhaar, PAN Card, Driving Licence, Voter’s Card, Bank Passbook with attested photograph, identity card issued by a school or college, or an identity card issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead.
• Mobile phones, pagers, smart watches, calculators and other communication devices are prohibited at the examination venue.
• SBI may conduct biometric verification through thumb impression or iris capture at various stages.
• No request for change of examination centre, date or session will be accepted.

Pre-Examination Training

SBI will arrange online pre-examination training for eligible SC/ST/OBC, Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates in accordance with Government of India guidelines. Candidates wishing to use this facility must select the relevant option in the online application. Training details will be communicated through registered email and SMS.

Document and Image Upload Requirements

Candidates must upload a recent passport-size colour photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression and handwritten declaration. The handwritten declaration must be written in English by the candidate and must not be written in capital letters.

• Photograph: preferred dimensions 200 x 230 pixels; file size 20 KB to 50 KB.
• Signature: preferred dimensions 140 x 60 pixels; file size 10 KB to 20 KB.
• Left thumb impression: 240 x 240 pixels at 200 DPI; file size 20 KB to 50 KB.
• Handwritten declaration: 800 x 400 pixels at 200 DPI; file size 50 KB to 100 KB.
• File format: JPG/JPEG.
• Scanner resolution: minimum 200 DPI with true colour.
• A live photograph must also be captured through a webcam or mobile phone during the application process.
• Candidates should retain approximately eight copies of the uploaded photograph for later stages.
• Unclear, smudged or incorrectly placed images may lead to rejection of the application or denial of entry to the examination.

Important Reservation Conditions

• OBC reservation is available only to candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer. OBC candidates must submit the prescribed certificate containing the Non-Creamy Layer clause, issued during the period from 01/04/2026 to the date of joining.
• EWS candidates must produce an Income and Asset Certificate for the financial year 2025-26, valid for 2026-27, in the prescribed Government of India format.
• SC/ST candidates must submit a caste certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.
• PwBD candidates must submit the latest disability certificate issued by the competent authority. The certificate must be dated on or before 31/08/2026.
• Reservation for Disabled Ex-Servicemen and dependents of servicemen killed in action is in addition to the 10% reservation earmarked for Ex-Servicemen, making the total reservation for these categories 14.5% as stated in the notification.
• The Bank may cancel the recruitment process entirely at any stage.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
• Furnishing false information, suppressing material facts, using unfair means, impersonation or misconduct may result in cancellation of candidature, debarment and criminal action.
