The vacancies are provisional and indicative. UIIC reserves the right to vary, interchange or withdraw vacancies and may decide not to select candidates from any particular category. EWS vacancies are subject to Government of India directions and the outcome of litigation, wherever applicable.
A candidate may apply for either Generalists or Hindi Officers, but not both. Multiple registrations or appearances will result in cancellation of candidature.
Eligibility / Qualification
Nationality
Candidates must be one of the following:
- A citizen of India.
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01/01/1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- A Person of Indian Origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Candidates belonging to the specified foreign national categories must possess an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.
Generalists
Candidates must possess a Graduate Degree or Post Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized university, including Engineering, Arts, Science, Commerce, Agriculture, Data Science and other disciplines. Minimum marks required are:
- 60% marks for General, OBC and EWS candidates.
- 55% marks for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.
The qualification must have been completed on or before 30/06/2026 through the 10+2+3 pattern or an equivalent system. Candidates whose final examination results were declared after 30/06/2026 are not eligible. Working knowledge of computers is mandatory.
Hindi Officers
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree from a recognized university with at least 60% marks, or 55% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, under any one of the following conditions:
- Master's Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject, or English as the medium of examination at degree level.
- Master's Degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or Hindi as the medium of examination at degree level.
- Master's Degree in a subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject, or English as the medium of examination at degree level.
- Master's Degree in a subject other than Hindi or English with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or Hindi as the medium of examination at degree level.
- Master's Degree in a subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects, or one as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level.
The qualification must have been obtained from a recognized university or institute approved by the UGC/AICTE, as applicable. Where CGPA, OGPA or SGPA is awarded, candidates must produce the university's official percentage-conversion certificate. A converted percentage of 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%.
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of:
- Tier I Preliminary Examination – Online Objective Test.
- Tier II Main Examination – Online Objective Test.
- Tier II Descriptive Test.
- Interview.
- Document verification, medical examination and verification of credentials and antecedents.
Candidates must qualify in the required sections and overall cut-off. Candidates qualifying in the online examinations and descriptive test will be shortlisted for interview. Candidates may be called for interview up to three times the vacancies of the relevant category and discipline.
For Generalists, the final merit list will be prepared using Tier II Objective Test and Interview marks in the ratio of 75:25. Preliminary Examination and Descriptive Test marks will not be included in the final merit calculation.
For Hindi Officers, Tier II Objective and Descriptive Test marks together with Interview marks will be considered in the ratio of 75:25. Preliminary Examination marks will not be included in the final merit calculation.

The Generalists' descriptive test consists of Letter Writing for 10 marks and Essay for 20 marks. It is conducted online immediately after the objective test, and answers must be typed on the computer.

The Hindi Officer descriptive test consists of English Essay for 10 marks, Hindi Essay for 10 marks, Hindi Letter Writing for 10 marks, English-to-Hindi Translation for 10 marks and Hindi-to-English Translation for 10 marks. Hindi typing may require knowledge of the Inscript or Remington (GAIL) keyboard layout.
Negative Marking
There will be a penalty of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer in the Preliminary and Main objective examinations. No penalty will be imposed for unanswered questions. Section-wise and category-wise overall cut-offs will apply.
Scores may be equated where examinations are conducted in multiple sessions. In case of a tie, the older candidate according to date of birth will be placed higher in the merit list.
Salary / Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be appointed as Administrative Officer (Scale I) on a basic pay scale of ₹82,485-4,050(14)-₹1,39,185-4,390(4)-₹1,56,745, along with admissible allowances.

The approximate gross salary at metropolitan centres is ₹1,10,000 per month.
Probation and Service Conditions
The appointment will be subject to medical fitness and will initially be on probation for one year, which may be extended at the discretion of UIIC. During probation, officers may be required to undergo theoretical and practical training and pass the non-life Licentiate Examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India. Confirmation is subject to passing the examination within the prescribed probation period.
The selected candidates must execute a guarantee bond to serve UIIC for a minimum period of five years, including probation. Resignation before completion of the bond period may result in recovery of liquidated damages, subject to the terms of the notification, along with ₹35,000 towards onboarding and integration costs.
The posts are permanent. Candidates may be posted or transferred to any location in India according to the Company's requirements. Initial postings are likely to be mainly in the Southern and Western zones, and no transfer request to a place of choice will be entertained during the initial minimum posting period of five years.
Examination and Document Instructions
Candidates must download their call letters from the UIIC website using their Registration Number/Roll Number and Password/Date of Birth. No hard copy of the call letter will be sent by post.
Candidates must carry the following to the examination centre:
- Valid call letter with a recent recognizable photograph affixed.
- Original valid photo identity proof.
- Photocopy of the photo identity proof.
- Two recent passport-size photographs.
- Additional documents applicable to PwBD candidates.
Accepted identity documents include PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter's Card, bank passbook with photograph, Aadhaar Card with photograph, employee identity card, Bar Council Identity Card, recognized college or university identity card, and identity proof issued by an authorized officer. Ration Card and Learner's Driving Licence are not accepted.
The name on the call letter must exactly match the name on the identity proof. Candidates who have changed their name must carry the original Gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit, as applicable. Mobile phones and electronic devices are prohibited in the examination and interview premises.
PwBD and Scribe Provisions
Eligible visually impaired candidates and candidates with benchmark disabilities whose writing speed is permanently affected may use their own scribe at their own cost, subject to the notification's conditions. The scribe must not be a candidate for the same examination, must not be a current UIIC employee and must belong to an academic stream different from that of the candidate. The scribe's qualification should ordinarily be one level below the candidate's qualification.
Eligible candidates using a scribe may receive 20 minutes of compensatory time for every hour of examination, provided the facility is selected during online registration. Similar compensatory time provisions apply to eligible candidates with locomotor disability, cerebral palsy, visual impairment and intellectual disability. Candidates with less than 40% specified disability and difficulty in writing must submit the prescribed certificate from a competent Government healthcare institution.
Pre-Examination Training
UIIC will arrange online Pre-Examination Training for eligible SC, ST, OBC Non-Creamy Layer and PwBD candidates. Candidates wishing to use this facility must select the relevant option in the online application. Participation in training does not confer any right to appointment.
Important Instructions
- A candidate must submit only one application and may apply for only one discipline.
- Candidates currently serving as Administrative Officers (Scale I) in UIIC are not eligible.
- Applications cannot be withdrawn and paid fees or service charges will not be refunded.
- Candidates serving in Government, quasi-Government or Public Sector Undertakings must produce a No Objection Certificate at the interview, if shortlisted.
- Candidates must produce original and self-attested copies of age, educational qualification, identity and category documents when required.
- Incorrect, incomplete or suppressed information may lead to cancellation of candidature or termination of service even after appointment.
- Canvassing, impersonation, unfair means, misconduct or carrying electronic devices may result in disqualification, debarment and other legal action.
- The choice of examination centre and preferred place of posting is not binding on UIIC.
- Any dispute arising from the recruitment process will be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in Chennai.
