UPSSSC has announced 1,308 Veterinary Pharmacist vacancies under the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Uttar Pradesh. PET-2025 qualified candidates with the required veterinary pharmacy diploma can apply online from 14/09/2026 to 05/10/2026.

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow has invited online applications for 1,308 Veterinary Pharmacist posts under Advertisement No. 18-Examination/2026. Age Limit

The candidate must have completed 18 years and must not have exceeded 40 years of age in the calendar year in which the vacancies are advertised. The applicable age will be calculated according to the Uttar Pradesh Veterinary Pharmacist Service Rules, 2025.

Age relaxation for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Economically Weaker Section, women, ex-servicemen, persons with disabilities, outstanding sportspersons and other eligible categories will be available according to applicable Uttar Pradesh Government rules.

The notification also provides for horizontal reservation, including 261 posts for women, 65 posts for ex-servicemen, 26 posts for dependents of freedom fighters, and 26 posts for outstanding sportspersons, subject to the applicable reservation rules and departmental requisition.

The number of vacancies and category-wise distribution may be revised according to the latest reservation laws, government orders and departmental requirements.

Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates applying for direct recruitment to the Veterinary Pharmacist post must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Must have passed Intermediate or an equivalent examination with Biology from the Uttar Pradesh Intermediate Education Board or an examination recognised by the Government.
  • Must possess a two-year or two years and three months Diploma in Veterinary Pharmacy from a university or institution established by law in India.
  • Must be registered with the competent council or institution, wherever applicable.
  • Must have knowledge of Hindi written in the Devanagari script.
  • Must have appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and possess a score card issued by the Commission.
  • Candidates with an absolute score of zero or less, or a normalised score of zero or less, in PET-2025 will not be shortlisted for the main examination.

Selection Process

The selection process will be conducted through the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting on the basis of the normalised score obtained in UPSSSC PET-2025.
  2. Written main examination.
  3. Document verification and verification of eligibility, reservation certificates and other required documents.
  4. Final selection according to merit, applicable reservation rules and the Commission's conditions.

Approximately 15 times the number of advertised vacancies, subject to the applicable cut-off and category-wise requirements, will be shortlisted for the written examination.

Exam Pattern

The written examination will consist of one objective and multiple-choice question paper containing 100 questions for 100 marks. The total examination duration will be 2 hours (120 minutes).

This section will cover the history, introduction and application of computers, information technology, the Internet and the World Wide Web. Questions may also be asked on hardware and software, input and output devices, Internet protocols and IP addresses, IT gadgets, creation of email IDs and use of email.

Part 3: General Information Related to Uttar Pradesh

Questions will be based on the history, culture, art, architecture, festivals, folk dances, literature, regional languages, heritage, social customs, tourism, geography, environment, natural resources, climate, soil, forests, wildlife, mines and minerals, economy, agriculture, industry, business, employment, polity, administration and current events and achievements of Uttar Pradesh.

Syllabus Details

Veterinary Pharmacist Subjects

The subject syllabus includes the following areas:

  • Anatomy of livestock and poultry, including the skeletal system, major bones and joints, digestion, respiration, blood circulation, urinary system, nervous system, sense organs and superficial lymph nodes.
  • Livestock management, including the management of cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, horses, camels and pigs; animal housing; grooming, washing, dipping and shearing; care of pregnant animals; newborn calf rearing; dehorning and castration.
  • Identification of native, exotic and crossbred livestock breeds, basic breeding systems, livestock farm records and farm economics.
  • Animal feeds, fodders, balanced ration formulation, nutritional deficiencies and primary signs of poor health in farm animals.
  • Physiological functions of various organs of livestock and poultry.
  • Common laboratory tools, sterilisation practices, blood, urine and faecal sample processing and analysis.
  • Internal and external parasites, parasite life cycles and common deworming schedules.
  • Classification and sources of veterinary medicines, drug administration methods, dosage calculation, side effects and medicine storage rules.
  • Blood serum parameters, livestock reproduction and assistance in pregnancy diagnosis.
  • Clinical veterinary medicine, common diseases, prevention and basic treatment-related practices.
  • Veterinary clinical pharmacy, medicine labelling, prescription reading, medicine packaging, inventory control, vaccine cold-chain management, expiry-date checking and maintenance of narcotic medicine registers.
  • Surgical instruments, sterilisation, autoclave operations, animal preparation for surgery, wound dressing, bandaging, post-operative monitoring and suture care.
  • Laws related to the sale, storage and distribution of animal medicines in India and ethics for veterinary pharmacy practitioners.
  • Daily hygiene and biosecurity on dairy and poultry farms, farmer communication and organisation of animal health camps.
  • Practical training in a veterinary polyclinic, emergency case handling, assistance to veterinarians during physical examinations and management of pharmacy stock.

Salary / Pay Scale

The notification mentions the Veterinary Pharmacist pay scale with a maximum of ₹92,300. Other admissible allowances and service benefits will be provided according to applicable Uttar Pradesh Government rules.
