University of Allahabad has released the press note for Postgraduate Admission Test (PGAT) 2026 for the academic session 2026-27. Online registration for all postgraduate courses will start from 05/05/2026 and the last date to apply is 25/05/2026.

Eligibility / Programme Information
- Candidates must check programme-wise eligibility and admission criteria in the PGAT-2026 Information Bulletin available on the University website.
- There are minor changes in eligibility and admission criteria; candidates must read the bulletin carefully before filling the form.
Important Instructions
- Fill correct subject codes carefully. No change in subject code choice will be allowed at any stage of PGAT admission.
- MBA / MBA (RD) applicants will be required to take an additional test administered by the respective department.
Reservation Policy (As per Government of India)
- SC: 15%
- ST: 7.5%
- OBC: 27%
- EWS: 10%
- PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): 5% quota in each course
- Sports candidates: 2% quota in each course
NCC / Sports Quota Note
- NCC Weightage and Sports Quota will NOT be applicable in the following courses:
- B.Ed., M.Ed., MBA, MBA (RD)
Sports Quota Fitness Test (Mandatory)
For candidates applying under Sports Quota Admission, a fitness test is compulsory:
- 50m Sprint
- 1000m Running
- Over Head Ball Throw
- Standing Broad Jump
If found unsatisfactory as per fitness parameters, the candidature under Sports Quota will not be considered. Detailed rules are available in the PGAT-2026 Information Bulletin.
Foreign Nationals
Foreign Nationals must apply through the International Students Advisor, University of Allahabad as per the procedure laid down by the University. Such candidates are not required to apply/appear in PGAT-2026.
Exam Pattern (PGAT-2026)
- Total Marks: 300
- Total Questions: 150 MCQs
- No negative marking for wrong answers
- Common Section (Compulsory for most courses): 50 questions from:
- General Awareness
- General English
- General Hindi
- Logical Reasoning
- Mental Ability
- Common Section is not compulsory for: LL.M., B.Ed., M.Ed., MBA / MBA (RD)
- Remaining questions will be based on the applicant’s choice of programme.
Update / Change in Course Name
- M.Sc. Agriculture Botany has been renamed to M.Sc. Agricultural Microbiology.
