Bihar Vidhan Parishad Secretariat has issued Advertisement No. 01/2025 for direct recruitment to the posts of Driver and Office Attendant under the Driver Cadre. Additional age relaxation is available under applicable Bihar Government rules, including provisions for eligible government employees and ex-servicemen. Candidates who have completed three years of continuous government service may receive up to five years of relaxation for entry into a higher pay level. For former soldiers, relaxation may include three years plus the period of military service, subject to the maximum age limit of 53 years.

The vacancy distribution includes reservation for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Extremely Backward Class, Backward Class, Economically Weaker Section and other applicable categories. The notification also provides 35% horizontal reservation for women. Vacancy numbers may be increased or decreased according to administrative requirements, and the Bihar Vidhan Parishad Secretariat reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process or any stage without prior notice.

Eligibility / Qualification

Driver

  • Matriculation or equivalent qualification.
  • Working knowledge of both Hindi and English languages.
  • Valid Driving Licence for Light Motor Vehicle or Heavy Motor Vehicle.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle satisfactorily.

Office Attendant

  • Matriculation or equivalent qualification.
  • Working knowledge of both Hindi and English languages.
  • Ability to operate a bicycle.

The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate will be accepted for determining age.

Reservation Rules

  • Reservation benefits based on caste will be available only to candidates having permanent residence in Bihar.
  • Candidates from outside Bihar will be treated under the unreserved category for reservation purposes.
  • The permanent address submitted in the online application will be considered for reservation.
  • Candidates must claim the applicable reservation category in the designated section of the online application. A later change in reservation category will not be accepted.
  • Candidates must possess valid caste, domicile, non-creamy layer, EWS or other applicable certificates while applying and must produce the original documents during document verification.
  • EWS certificates for this recruitment will be valid on the basis of the financial year 2023–24.
  • A 2% horizontal reservation is applicable for eligible descendants of recognised freedom fighters.
  • Married women claiming reservation must submit caste and non-creamy layer certificates issued in their father's name, wherever applicable.
  • Original reservation certificates must be produced at the time of verification; otherwise, the reservation benefit will not be granted.

Candidates must qualify in the driving skill test to remain eligible for appointment to Driver posts. Candidates failing the driving skill test will not be considered for direct recruitment.

Office Attendant

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the applicable examination and other recruitment rules.

Exam Pattern

The written examination for both posts will be conducted through an OMR-based answer booklet. The paper will contain objective and multiple-choice questions.

Candidates who fail to obtain the prescribed qualifying marks will be excluded from the recruitment process. Candidates for the next stage will generally be shortlisted on the basis of category-wise vacancies and written examination performance.

Driver Skill and Trade Test

  • The driving skill test will carry 50 marks.
  • Only candidates who qualify in the driving skill test will be eligible for the practical trade test.
  • The merit list for Driver posts will be prepared on the basis of written examination and practical test performance, as applicable under the recruitment rules.
  • Candidates declared unsuccessful in the driving skill test will not be eligible for appointment as Driver.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates must carefully read the detailed advertisement and online application instructions before submitting the application.
  • The Email ID, mobile number, username and password entered during registration must be kept secure until the final result is published.
  • Candidates should use their own active mobile number and Email ID.
  • A recent photograph and Hindi and English signatures must be scanned and uploaded in the prescribed format.
  • Candidates should retain at least five additional copies of the uploaded photograph for future use.
  • After final submission, candidates must log in again and download the filled application form from the Download Filled Application option. At least two printed copies should be retained.
  • The printed application form must contain the Application Number; otherwise, it may not be treated as a complete application.
  • Candidates must retain copies of all certificates and documents mentioned in the advertisement.
  • The Secretariat will not be responsible for internet, banking, unsuccessful payment or pending transaction issues, and no additional time will be provided for payment-related problems.
