Eligibility / Qualification

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • Male, female and third-gender candidates may apply.
  • The candidate must have passed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with Physics as one of the subjects from a recognized university by 01/08/2025.
  • The minimum required marks are 50% for general candidates and 45% for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.

The questions shall be objective and multiple-choice in nature and shall generally be at the graduate-level science standard. Candidates must secure at least 30% marks in the preliminary examination. Candidates securing below this qualifying percentage shall not be considered for the Main Examination. Up to 20 times the number of vacancies, category-wise and according to merit, may be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Paper I shall contain 50 marks of General Hindi and 50 marks of General English. The paper shall be objective and multiple-choice, with questions at the Intermediate level. Candidates must obtain at least 30 marks in Paper I. Paper I marks shall not be included for preparing the merit list.

Paper II shall consist of objective multiple-choice questions from graduate-level Physics. Candidates must obtain at least 33% marks in Paper II.

A penalty of 0.20 marks shall be imposed for every incorrect answer in both stages of the written examination.

Physical Efficiency and Measurement Test

The test is qualifying in nature. No marks shall be awarded, and candidates must qualify in every event.

Up to three attempts shall be provided for the high jump, long jump and shot-put events. Candidates failing to meet the prescribed standard in any event shall be declared unsuccessful.

Merit List and Final Selection

The final merit list shall be prepared from candidates who qualify in the Physical Efficiency and Measurement Test. Merit shall be based on marks obtained in Main Examination Paper II, in accordance with the available vacancies and applicable reservation roster.

In case of equal marks, preference shall be given to the older candidate. If the date of birth is also the same, higher educational qualification and subsequently marks in the qualifying examination shall be considered. If the tie still remains unresolved, the order of names in English alphabetical order as recorded in the Class 10 certificate shall be used.

Medical Examination and Verification

Before appointment, selected candidates shall undergo medical examination, character verification and antecedent verification. Medical assessment may include examination of eyesight, colour blindness, hearing ability, knock knees, flat feet and other relevant physical conditions. Any adverse report or concealment of facts may result in cancellation of candidature.

Pregnant married women found medically pregnant at the time of the running or physical efficiency test shall not be permitted to participate and may be declared ineligible on the basis of the medical report. Married female candidates may also be required to submit a declaration regarding pregnancy.
