Eligibility / Qualification

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have passed Intermediate (10+2) in Science, or an equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • General, EWS, BC and EBC candidates must have secured at least 50% marks.
  • SC and ST candidates must have secured at least 45% marks.

For male candidates, a minimum 5 cm difference between the chest measurement without expansion and with expansion is mandatory. Transgender candidates will follow the physical standards prescribed for female candidates.

  • The examination level will be equivalent to the Intermediate level of the Bihar School Examination Board.
  • Candidates securing less than 30% marks in the written examination will be declared unsuccessful for the Physical Efficiency Test.
  • Approximately five times the category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the PET based on written examination marks.
  • Normalisation through the Equi-Percentile Method may be applied if the examination is conducted in multiple shifts or with multiple question papers.

Physical Efficiency Test Details

The PET is qualifying in nature and carries no marks. Candidates must qualify separately in all prescribed events.

A maximum of three attempts will be allowed for each event. Candidates must qualify separately in running, high jump and shot put. A candidate who qualifies in running but fails to meet the minimum standard in high jump or shot put will not be allowed to participate in the remaining events.

Document Verification

Candidates qualifying in the PET must produce the original documents along with one self-attested photocopy, including:

  • Valid photograph identity proof such as Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence or Voter ID Card.
  • Matriculation or equivalent certificate and marksheet as proof of date of birth.
  • Intermediate or equivalent passing certificate and marksheet.
  • Caste and domicile certificates for SC and ST candidates.
  • Caste, domicile and valid Non-Creamy Layer certificates for BC and EBC candidates.
  • Prescribed declaration if the Non-Creamy Layer certificate was issued more than one year before the application date.
  • Freedom Fighter Ward certificate issued by the District Magistrate or authorised officer, wherever applicable.
  • EWS income and asset certificate for financial year 2024–2025 along with Bihar domicile certificate.
  • Transgender identity certificate issued by the competent authority along with domicile certificate.

Failure to produce the required original documents on the scheduled date may result in cancellation of candidature or loss of reservation benefits.

Merit List and Tie-Breaking

The merit list will be prepared category-wise according to the vacancies and written examination marks. In case of equal marks, preference will be given in the following order:

  1. Older candidate according to date of birth.
  2. Candidate with higher educational qualification, if the date of birth is also the same.
  3. Candidate securing higher marks in the qualifying examination.
  4. Alphabetical order of the candidate's name as recorded in the Class 10 certificate, if the tie still remains unresolved.

Supplementary recommendation lists may be issued for up to six months from the date of publication of the final examination result to fill vacancies caused by non-joining candidates.

Medical Examination and Verification

Before appointment, selected candidates will undergo medical examination, character verification and antecedent verification. The medical examination may include checks for eyesight, colour blindness, hearing ability, knock knees, flat feet and other physical conditions. Candidates found medically unfit or found to have concealed material facts may be disqualified from appointment.

Reservation Rules

  • Reservation benefits are available according to the applicable Bihar Government reservation rules.
  • Caste-based reservation is available only to Bihar domicile candidates.
  • Candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved candidates and must satisfy the Unreserved age and eligibility conditions.
  • Bihar domicile women candidates are eligible for 35% horizontal reservation.
  • A 2% horizontal reservation is available for eligible wards of pension-eligible freedom fighters, subject to the prescribed certificate.
  • Reservation benefits for persons with disabilities are not applicable to the Constable Driver post, as the post has been exempted from disability reservation.
  • Eligible transgender candidates may receive reservation benefits as per the applicable Bihar Government provisions.
  • Original reservation certificates must be produced during document verification.

Result Details

The final merit list and result will be prepared by CSBC on the basis of written examination performance, category-wise vacancies and successful completion of the PET and document verification stages.
