Eligibility / Qualification

Nationality

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification

  • Prohibition Constable and Mobile Squad Constable: Intermediate (10+2) passed, or equivalent qualification recognised by the Bihar Government. Valid qualifications issued by the Bihar Madrasa Board or Bihar Sanskrit Board, as specified in the notification, are also accepted.
  • Jail Warder: Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent examination passed from a board recognised by any State Government or the Central Government.

Driving Licence for Mobile Squad Constable

Applicants for Mobile Squad Constable must possess a valid driving licence issued by the competent authority for driving a two-wheeler and four-wheeler, including a valid LMV or HMV licence, by 26/09/2025 or earlier.

For male candidates, the difference between chest measurements before and after expansion must be at least 5 cm. Female candidates must have a minimum weight of 48 kg. Transgender candidates will follow the physical standards applicable to female candidates.

Age Limit

The age is calculated on the basis of the date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate. The minimum age is 18 years.

Prohibition Constable and Mobile Squad Constable

  • UR candidates: maximum 25 years
  • BC and EBC male candidates: maximum 27 years
  • BC and EBC female candidates: maximum 28 years
  • SC/ST candidates and transgender candidates: maximum 30 years
  • Eligible Home Guard candidates: additional relaxation of 5 years in the prescribed maximum age limit
  • Eligible ex-servicemen: relaxation as per applicable Bihar Government rules, subject to the maximum actual age condition specified in the notification

Jail Warder

Direct Recruitment

  • UR male candidates: maximum 23 years
  • BC and EBC male candidates: maximum 25 years
  • UR, BC and EBC female candidates: maximum 26 years
  • SC/ST candidates: maximum 28 years

Home Guard Quota

All eligible Home Guard candidates receive 5 years’ relaxation in the prescribed maximum age limit.

Ex-Servicemen Quota

The maximum age limit for eligible ex-servicemen candidates is 45 years.

Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of the following stages:

  1. Written Examination
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Document Verification
  4. Medical Examination
  5. Character Verification and Identity Verification

The selection process for all three posts will be conducted together. Candidates must indicate their post preference while applying. The final selection for Prohibition Constable, directly recruited Jail Warder and Mobile Squad Constable will be based on marks obtained in the Physical Efficiency Test, followed by document verification.

Shot Put: 25 Marks

  • Male candidates: 16-pound shot; minimum distance is 16 feet.
  • Female candidates: 12-pound shot; minimum distance is 12 feet.
  • Marks range from 9 to 25 based on distance.
  • Candidates failing to achieve the minimum distance will be declared unsuccessful.
  • A maximum of three attempts will be allowed.

High Jump: 25 Marks

  • Male candidates: minimum height is 4 feet; 4 feet to 5 feet carries 13 to 25 marks.
  • Female candidates: minimum height is 3 feet; 3 feet to 4 feet carries 13 to 25 marks.
  • Candidates failing to clear the minimum height will be declared unsuccessful.
  • A maximum of three attempts will be allowed.

Candidates must qualify separately in running, shot put and high jump. Failure to meet the minimum standard in any event will result in disqualification from the remaining events.
