Indian Overseas Bank has announced the FY 2026-27 Apprentice engagement for 750 vacancies. Graduates aged 20 to 28 years can participate in the online examination, local language test and document verification process.

Indian Overseas Bank has issued the notification for engagement of Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for FY 2026-27. The recruitment process is for 750 apprentice vacancies across various States and Union Territories of India. The online examination is tentatively scheduled for 02/08/2026.

Age Limit

The age is calculated as on 01/07/2026.

  • Minimum age: 20 years
  • Maximum age for General and EWS candidates: 28 years
  • General and EWS candidates should have been born between 01/07/1998 and 01/07/2006, both dates inclusive.
  • Candidates registered under NAPS must be less than 34 years of age as on 01/07/2026.
  • SC/ST candidates receive 5 years of relaxation.
  • OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates receive 3 years of relaxation.
  • PwBD candidates receive 10 years of relaxation.

Vacancy Details

The vacancies include backlog seats and are provisional. The Bank may modify the number of seats according to its requirements.

Horizontal PwBD reservation includes 19 Hearing Impaired, 16 Orthopedically Challenged, 17 Visually Impaired and 16 Intellectual Disability seats.

Eligibility / Qualification

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate must hold a Degree or Graduation in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
  • The graduation result must be declared on or before 31/07/2026.
  • For candidates registered under NATS, the graduation result must have been declared between 01/03/2022 and 31/07/2026, both dates inclusive.
  • Candidates must provide their NATS or NAPS enrolment number while completing the application process.
  • Candidates who have previously undergone apprenticeship training with IOB or any other organisation are not eligible.
  • Candidates with one year or more of training or job experience after completing the required qualification are not eligible.
  • Candidates may apply for only one State or Union Territory, preferably their home State or Union Territory.

Result Details

The results of candidates qualifying for different stages and the final selected list will be published on the official websites of Indian Overseas Bank and BFSI Sector Skill Council of India. A State-category-wise waitlist will be maintained for one year from the date of the apprenticeship result or until the next engagement exercise, whichever is earlier.

The final engagement is subject to:

  1. Qualification in the online written examination.
  2. Qualification in the local language test, wherever applicable.
  3. Document verification and personal interaction, if conducted.
  4. Medical fitness examination.
  5. Verification of character, antecedents and caste or category certificates wherever applicable.

  • Examination duration: 90 minutes
  • The examination is objective type.
  • There is no separate minimum qualifying mark for individual subjects.
  • Candidates must obtain the aggregate minimum percentage decided by the Bank.
  • SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates receive 5% relaxation in the aggregate qualifying percentage.
  • Selection is based on merit and reservation rules.
  • In case of equal marks at the cut-off, the older candidate will receive the higher merit position.

Local Language Test

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding one specified local language of the State or Union Territory for which they apply. The local language test is conducted after qualifying in the online examination, generally during document verification. Candidates who produce a Class 10 or Class 12 marksheet or certificate showing that they studied the specified local language are exempt from the language test.

Stipend

The apprenticeship training period is one year. The monthly stipend is as follows:

The stipend includes the Government of India subsidy, wherever applicable. Apprentices are not entitled to other allowances or employee benefits and will not be treated as regular employees of Indian Overseas Bank.

Documents Required for Verification

Candidates called for document verification or personal interaction must produce the originals along with self-attested photocopies of the following documents:

  • Personal interaction or reporting communication.
  • Email received from BFSI Sector Skill Council of India containing the submitted application details.
  • Proof of date of birth, such as a birth certificate or Class 10 certificate.
  • Valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar, e-Aadhaar, PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence or Voter ID.
  • Consolidated marksheets and educational qualification certificates.
  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS category certificate in the prescribed Government of India format, wherever applicable.
  • Valid OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 01/04/2026, wherever applicable.
  • Disability certificate issued in the prescribed format by the District Medical Board, wherever applicable.
  • Any other document supporting eligibility.

Selected candidates must be medically fit and must successfully complete document, character and category verification. Engagement remains provisional until satisfactory verification is completed.
