Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, have issued Recruitment Notification 01/2025 for various teaching and non-teaching posts. The recruitment is being conducted through CBSE on behalf of KVS and NVS for eligible Indian citizens.
The notification covers 14,921 tentative vacancies across KVS and NVS. The online registration window is scheduled from 14/11/2025 to 04/12/2025.

Age Limit
The minimum age requirement is 18 years. The post-wise upper age limit ranges from 27 years to 50 years, depending on the post. The age is calculated as on 04/12/2025.

Only the highest permissible age concession will be granted where more than one relaxation applies. For a woman with disability, the separate women’s relaxation is not applicable. Eligibility and Qualification
Senior-Level Posts
- Assistant Commissioner (KVS): Master’s degree with at least 50% marks, B.Ed. or three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. with at least 50% marks, three years’ experience as Principal in Pay Level 12, computer knowledge and working knowledge of Hindi and English.
- Assistant Commissioner (Academics), NVS: Master’s degree with at least 50% marks, B.Ed. and at least three years’ service as Principal in Pay Level 12. Experience in a residential school and research experience in education are desirable.
- Principal: Master’s degree and B.Ed. with at least 50% marks, or an accepted integrated equivalent. Candidates must possess the prescribed experience as Principal, Vice-Principal, Assistant Education Officer or PGT/Lecturer.
- Vice-Principal, KVS: Master’s degree and B.Ed. or accepted integrated equivalent with at least 50% marks, along with the prescribed experience as Vice-Principal or PGT/Lecturer.
Post Graduate Teachers
PGT candidates generally require a Master’s degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks, B.Ed. or an accepted integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. or integrated degree qualification, and proficiency to teach in Hindi and English. The subject studied at graduation level must satisfy the subject-combination requirements mentioned in the notification.
For PGT Computer Science, candidates require M.Sc. Computer Science/IT, MCA, M.E. or M.Tech. Computer Science/IT with at least 50% marks along with the prescribed teacher-training qualification. PGT Physical Education in NVS requires M.P.Ed. with at least 50% marks. PGT Modern Indian Language requires the concerned language at postgraduate level or an integrated postgraduate course with the prescribed B.Ed. qualification.
Trained Graduate Teachers
TGT candidates generally require a four-year integrated degree including B.Ed., or a Bachelor’s/Honours degree with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject and B.Ed. or an accepted equivalent qualification. Candidates must qualify CTET Paper II for applicable TGT posts and must be competent to teach through Hindi and English medium.
Subject combinations are prescribed for TGT Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. For example, TGT Mathematics candidates must have studied Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science or Statistics in the required semesters. TGT Science candidates must have studied Biology, Life Science, Botany or Zoology with the prescribed Chemistry and Botany/Zoology combination. TGT Social Studies candidates must have studied any two subjects from History, Geography, Economics and Political Science, with History or Geography as one of the subjects.
Special Educator, Librarian and Physical Education Posts
Special Educator TGT candidates require graduation with at least 50% marks, an accepted Special Education qualification, CTET Paper II, valid Rehabilitation Council of India registration with a valid CRR number, and proficiency in Hindi and English.
Librarian and TGT Library candidates require a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science with at least 50% marks, computer knowledge and working knowledge of Hindi and English.
Physical Education posts require the prescribed B.P.Ed., B.P.Ed. integrated course, M.P.Ed. or related qualification. Sports participation at State or National level is desirable for relevant posts.
Primary Teacher Posts
PRT candidates require Senior Secondary/Class XII with at least 50% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, four-year B.El.Ed. or accepted Special Education qualification. CTET Paper I and proficiency to teach in Hindi and English are compulsory.
PRT Music candidates require Class XII with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor’s degree in Music or Performing Arts. A Diploma in Music alone is not accepted.
Special Educator PRT candidates require Class XII with at least 50% marks, an RCI-recognized Special Education qualification, CTET Paper I, valid RCI registration with CRR number and proficiency in Hindi and English.
Non-Teaching Posts
- Administrative Officer: Graduation and three years’ regular service as Section Officer in the prescribed pay level.
- Finance Officer: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, or Bachelor’s degree with CA Inter, ICWA Inter, MBA Finance or PGDM Finance, along with four years’ relevant audit and accounts experience.
- Assistant Engineer: Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering and two years’ relevant design and engineering experience.
- Assistant Section Officer: Bachelor’s degree and three years’ regular service as UDC/SSA or equivalent in the prescribed pay level.
- Junior Translator: Master’s degree in Hindi or English, or another subject with the prescribed Hindi-English language combination, along with a translation diploma/certificate or two years’ translation experience.
- Senior Secretariat Assistant: Bachelor’s degree and three years’ regular service as JSA/LDC or equivalent.
- Stenographer Grade I: Graduation, shorthand speed of 100 words per minute, typing speed of 45 words per minute and five years’ regular service as Stenographer Grade II.
- Stenographer Grade II: Graduation, shorthand dictation at 80 words per minute, computer transcription and computer knowledge.
- Junior Secretariat Assistant: Class XII pass and prescribed computer typing speed. KVS requires 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi. NVS requires 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi, or the prescribed vocational qualification.
- Lab Attendant: Class 10th with a certificate/diploma in Laboratory Technique or Class XII with Science stream.
- Multi-Tasking Staff: Class 10th pass from a recognized board.
Selection Process
The recruitment process is conducted through Tier 1, Tier 2 and post-specific interview or skill test stages.
- Tier 1 Preliminary Examination: Qualifying OMR-based objective examination.
- Tier 2 Subject Knowledge Examination: Combination of objective and descriptive questions.
- Interview: Applicable for Assistant Commissioner, Principal, Vice-Principal, PGT, TGT, PRT and specified administrative posts. Tier 2 carries 85% weightage and interview carries 15% weightage.
- Skill Test: Applicable for Stenographer Grade I, Stenographer Grade II and Junior Secretariat Assistant. The skill test is qualifying in nature.
- Document Verification: Original certificates relating to age, qualification, experience, category, disability and other claims must be produced.
For posts involving interview, candidates are generally shortlisted from Tier 2 in a 1:3 ratio. For posts involving a skill test, candidates are generally shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio. Tier 1 candidates are shortlisted for Tier 2 in a 1:10 ratio, subject to the prescribed category-wise criteria.

Tier 2 duration is 2 hours 30 minutes. The objective section carries negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Tier 2 is conducted separately for each post and is generally bilingual in Hindi and English. The examination for PGT Modern Indian Language and TGT 3rd Language is conducted in the concerned language.
Skill Test
- KVS Junior Secretariat Assistant: Computer typing speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi, followed by a Computer Proficiency Test covering MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint and internet usage. The Computer Proficiency Test carries 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying requirement of 40% marks.
- NVS Junior Secretariat Assistant: Computer typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.
- Stenographer Grade I and Grade II: Shorthand dictation for 10 minutes at 80 words per minute, transcription in 50 minutes in English or 65 minutes in Hindi, computer typing at 40 words per minute in English or 35 words per minute in Hindi, and a Computer Proficiency Test carrying 100 marks with a minimum qualifying requirement of 40%.

Selected NVS employees are entitled to admissible allowances and a 10% special allowance for residential duties, except for Assistant Commissioner (Academics), NVS. Teachers in NVS may be required to stay on the Vidyalaya campus, with rent-free accommodation provided as available.
Result and Recruitment Status Details
The notification provided is a recruitment notification rather than a declared examination result. Candidates must regularly check their application login and the official CBSE, KVS and NVS websites for Tier 1/Tier 2 admit cards, shortlisting status, answer keys, interview or skill-test notices and final results.
The e-admit cards and shortlisting information will be made available only through the candidate’s application login. No hard copy, email or SMS is required to be sent separately. The scanned OMR response sheet and answer key for objective examinations may be displayed for a limited period, during which candidates can submit challenges by paying the prescribed non-refundable fee of ₹1,000 per question.
Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India. No request for change of station or region will ordinarily be entertained. Candidates shortlisted for TGT Regional Language posts in NVS will initially be posted outside the concerned linguistic State. Candidates must produce valid original documents during document verification, and admission to any examination stage does not by itself confirm eligibility.
