Result Details

How the merit is prepared / next stages after result

  • The exam is primarily a single stage CBT (RRB may conduct CBT in single or multi-stage mode).
  • Candidates qualifying in CBT are called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
  • PET is followed by Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination (ME).

Shortlisting ratios

  • Shortlisting for PET is done RRB/RRC-wise at the rate of 3 times the vacancies (may increase/decrease as per requirement).
  • Shortlisting for DV & Medical is done RRB/RRC-wise at the rate of 1:1 of vacancies, based on merit in CBT and qualifying PET.

Negative marking

  • CBT has negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Minimum qualifying marks (for shortlisting)

  • UR: 40%
  • EWS: 40%
  • OBC-NCL: 30%
  • SC: 30%
  • ST: 30%

PwBD relaxation: minimum qualifying marks may be relaxed by up to 2 marks in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against reserved vacancies.

Tie-breaking rule

If two or more candidates secure the same marks:

  1. Older candidate gets higher merit.
  2. If age is same, alphabetical order (A to Z) of given name (not surname) is used.
