Age Limit

Principal

  • Minimum age: 35 years
  • Maximum age: 50 years

  • Candidate must have been born between 02/07/1971 and 01/07/1986.

Lecturer, Workshop Superintendent and Librarian

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age: 40 years
  • Age calculated as on 01/07/2021
  • Candidate must have been born between 02/07/1981 and 01/07/2000.

Age Relaxation

  • SC, ST, OBC candidates of Uttar Pradesh, skilled players of Uttar Pradesh, eligible Uttar Pradesh Government employees and eligible teachers/staff: 5 years.
  • Physically handicapped candidates of Uttar Pradesh: 15 years.
  • Group B posts for eligible Emergency Commissioned Officers, Short Service Commissioned Officers and ex-Army personnel of Uttar Pradesh: 3 years plus the period of Army service.
  • Group A posts for eligible officers who have rendered five years of Army service: 5 years.
  • Reservation and age relaxation benefits were restricted to eligible permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh.

The number of vacancies could be increased or decreased according to circumstances and departmental requirements. Horizontal reservation was applicable as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules.

Eligibility / Qualification

Principal

Either of the following qualifications was required:

  • Ph.D. and First Class at Bachelor's or Master's level in the relevant discipline listed under AICTE-approved Diploma Courses, with at least 16 years of teaching experience at degree or diploma level in technical education, research or industry, including at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. experience and 5 years of experience at or above HOD level; or
  • First Class at Bachelor's or Master's level in the relevant discipline with at least 20 years of teaching experience at degree or diploma level in technical education, research or industry, including 5 years of experience at or above HOD level.

Lecturer in Engineering and Technical Branches

For Level 9A, candidates generally required a B.E., B.Tech. or B.S. degree in the relevant discipline with First Class.

For Level 10 technical discipline posts, candidates generally required Bachelor's and Master's degrees in the relevant discipline listed under AICTE-approved Diploma Courses, with First Class in either degree at the time of selection.

For Lecturer Architecture, B.Arch. or a four-year degree in an allied field with First Class was prescribed for the relevant level, along with the technical-discipline qualification for the higher level where applicable.

For Lecturer Pharmacy, B. Pharma. with First Class was prescribed for the relevant level, with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in the relevant discipline with First Class in either degree for the higher technical-discipline level.

Lecturer in Non-Engineering Subjects

  • Lecturer Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics: Master's degree in the appropriate subject with First Class.
  • For the higher-level Science and Humanities qualification, a Master's degree with First Class or equivalent in a relevant subject and qualification in UGC/CSIR NET or an equivalent UGC-approved test such as SLET/SET was required.

Workshop Superintendent

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with First Class.

Librarian

  • Master's degree in Library Science with at least First Class or equivalent and a consistently good academic record.
  • Knowledge of computers.
  • Qualification in the National Level Test conducted by UGC or another equivalent UGC-approved test.
  • Additional provisions were prescribed for librarians recruited between 01/01/1996 and 15/03/2000 in diploma-level institutions under the applicable Career Advancement Scheme rules.

If a class or division was not awarded, at least 60% aggregate marks were treated as equivalent to First Class. The notification also prescribed CGPA equivalence, including 6.25 = 55%, 6.75 = 60%, 7.25 = 65%, 7.75 = 70% and 8.25 = 75%.

Examination and Selection Process

  1. Written examination at notified examination centres.
  2. Shortlisting of candidates for interview on the basis of written examination performance.
  3. Interview/personality test carrying 100 marks.
  4. Verification of original certificates and documents at the interview stage.
  5. Final selection on the basis of combined marks obtained in the written examination and interview.
  6. Medical examination for candidates selected for appointment.

Approximately two candidates per vacancy were to be called for interview on the basis of the written examination. The examination date, centre, roll number and other details were to be communicated through the e-Admission Certificate.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus Details

The written examination consisted of two objective-type question papers, followed by a 100-mark interview. Each question carried 3 marks and the duration of each paper was 2 hours 30 minutes.

Negative Marking

  • One-third of the marks assigned to a question, equivalent to 0.33, was deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Selecting more than one option was treated as an incorrect answer and attracted the same penalty.
  • No penalty was imposed for unanswered questions.
  • The minimum efficiency standard was 35% for SC and ST candidates and 40% for candidates of other categories.

Candidates shortlisted for interview must appear at the allotted venue and carry original certificates, educational qualification documents and the required photographs. Candidates serving under the Central or State Government must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the interview.

Important Instructions

  • Reservation and age relaxation certificates had to be issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.
  • Reserved category benefits were generally limited to permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Date of birth was accepted only as recorded in the High School or equivalent certificate.
  • Candidates were required to keep printed copies of their registration, payment receipt and submitted application for future reference.
  • The application could be modified only once before the final submission deadline, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.
  • Black ballpoint pen was required for filling the OMR answer sheet.
  • Any concealment, false information, forged document, malpractice or canvassing could lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment from future UPPSC examinations.
  • The Commission could provisionally admit candidates, but eligibility was subject to later verification from original documents.
