Opening Overview

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has issued official information relating to the Forest Guard and Wildlife Guard Main Examination (PET-2025/13). The recruitment is for 708 vacant posts under the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department. Only candidates who appeared in PET-2025 and were issued a valid PET scorecard can participate in the main examination shortlisting process.

Important Dates

Candidates are required to complete fee reconciliation by 20/07/2026. In case of delay, the fee reconciliation and related application details must be completed within the permitted additional period ending 27/07/2026.

Vacancy Details

The vacancies are under the control of the Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Department, Uttar Pradesh. The number of vacancies and category-wise distribution may be revised according to applicable government rules and departmental requisitions.

Eligibility and Shortlisting

• Candidates must have appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025) and must have been issued a PET-2025 scorecard by UPSSSC.
• Shortlisting for the main examination will be based on the normalised PET-2025 score and post-wise merit.
• Candidates obtaining zero or negative marks in the absolute or normalised PET score will not be shortlisted.
• Candidates whose PET-2025 cases are marked Under Investigation or Provisional may be permitted provisionally, subject to the final decision of the Commission.
• The prescribed educational qualification and other eligibility requirements must be possessed by the last date of application, i.e. 20/07/2026.

Age Limit

For direct recruitment to Forest Guard and Wildlife Guard posts, candidates must generally have attained 18 years of age and must not have exceeded 40 years of age on 01 July of the relevant recruitment calendar year, subject to applicable relaxation for reserved categories and other eligible groups under Uttar Pradesh government rules.

Examination Pattern

The written main examination will contain one objective-type, multiple-choice question paper.

• Examination duration: 120 minutes
• Each question carries 1 mark.
• There will be negative marking of one-fourth mark (25%) for every wrong answer.
• If the examination is conducted in more than one shift or on more than one day, normalisation will be applied according to the Commission's prescribed procedure.

Syllabus Details

Part 1: Subject-Related Knowledge

The syllabus includes national parks and bird sanctuaries, reserved and protected forests, elephant and tiger reserves, environment and ecological balance, ecosystems, food chains and food webs, ozone layer and its depletion, waste management, climate change, soil and moisture conservation, afforestation, agro-forestry, forest disasters, forest produce, human-wildlife conflict, forest environment and its benefits, forest and wildlife conservation, contribution of forests to the Indian economy, forest ecology, and the Indian agricultural system and crop cycles.

Part 2: Elementary Mathematics and Biology

Mathematics: Percentage, profit and loss, simple interest, average, real numbers, least common multiple, highest common factor, area and perimeter of basic geometric figures, mean, median and mode of grouped data.

Biology: Biological processes such as nutrition, respiration, transportation and excretion; control and coordination, including the animal nervous system and human endocrine system; reproduction in organisms and related elementary biological concepts.

Part 3: Computer and Information Technology

The syllabus covers IT gadgets and their applications, creation and operation of email accounts, printers, tablets and mobile devices, important elements of word processing and spreadsheet processing using MS Word and MS Excel, operating systems, social networking, e-governance, digital financial tools and applications, future skills, cyber security, and technological developments such as artificial intelligence, big data processing, deep learning, machine learning and the Internet of Things.

Part 4: General Knowledge of Uttar Pradesh

Questions may be asked from the history, culture, art, architecture, festivals, folk dance, literature, regional languages, heritage, social customs, tourism, geographical landscape, environment, natural resources, climate, soil, forests, wildlife, food and minerals, economy, agriculture, industries, business and employment, polity, administration, current events and achievements of Uttar Pradesh.

Physical Standards and Physical Efficiency Test

Candidates declared successful in the written examination may be required to appear in the physical standard and physical efficiency tests.

Physical Efficiency Test

• Male candidates are required to complete a 25-kilometre walk within 4 hours.
• Female candidates are required to complete a 14-kilometre walk within 4 hours.
• The physical efficiency test is qualifying in nature and does not carry marks for preparation of the merit list.
• Candidates declared successful in the physical efficiency test may be called for medical examination.

The Commission may permit provisionally marked candidates to participate, but their shortlisting and selection will remain subject to the outcome of the Commission's investigation and final decision.

Application and Fee Reconciliation Details

Candidates were required to complete the online application through the UPSSSC online application system using their PET-2025 registration number. Login is completed through the OTP sent to the registered mobile number or email address.

The application fee may be paid through credit card, debit card, internet banking, UPI or SBI e-challan, as permitted by the Commission. After successful fee payment or reconciliation, candidates should download and print the submitted application form for future reference.

Candidates can check the application fee status through the Applicant's Dashboard. If the status remains pending, the transaction details must be updated through the Commission's transaction verification facility within the prescribed period.

Result and Main Examination Details

The main examination shortlist will be prepared post-wise on the basis of PET-2025 normalised scores. The Commission will include candidates up to approximately 15 times the number of advertised vacancies, subject to the prescribed cut-off and applicable rules.

Candidates should regularly check the UPSSSC website for the shortlist, examination date, admit card, examination centre, result, cut-off marks and subsequent selection notices. The examination centre, date and time mentioned on the admit card will be final.

Important Instructions

• Candidates must enter accurate personal, educational and category-related information in the application form.
• The date of birth recorded in the High School or equivalent certificate will be accepted for age verification.
• Candidates claiming reservation must possess valid certificates issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.
• Women candidates claiming caste reservation must submit the caste certificate issued from the father's side, wherever applicable under the relevant rules.
• Candidates employed in government service may be required to submit a No Objection Certificate through the proper channel.
• Submission of false information, concealment of facts, impersonation, malpractice or misconduct may result in cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations.
• Candidates submitting more than one application will have only the last finally submitted application considered, while other applications may be cancelled.
