SSC CHSL 10+2 Syllabus 2026
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the indicative syllabus and examination scheme for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026. The examination will be conducted in two tiers for posts including Lower Divisional Clerk/Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDC/JSA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO).

Syllabus Details
The SSC CHSL examination will be conducted in Tier-I and Tier-II. Tier-I consists of four objective sections. Tier-II consists of Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, and a Skill Test/Typing Test.
Exam Pattern
Tier-I Examination
Tier-I will consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions. The examination will have a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each subject and a total duration of 60 minutes. Candidates eligible for a scribe will receive 80 minutes, with a sectional timer of 20 minutes for each subject.

There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer in Tier-I. Questions in Parts II, III and IV may be set in English, Hindi and the language opted for by the candidate as permitted in the examination notice.
Tier-II Examination
Tier-II will be held in two sessions on the same day. Session-I will include Sections I, II and III, while Session-II will include Section IV. Candidates must qualify in all sections of Tier-II.

Session-I has a total duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Candidates eligible for a scribe receive compensatory time as prescribed in the examination scheme. The Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature. Section-IV, consisting of the Skill Test/Typing Test, is also qualifying in nature.
There will be negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II. Tier-II objective questions, except Section-IV, will be multiple-choice questions.
Tier-II Skill Test and Typing Test
Data Entry Operator Skill Test
The Skill Test is mandatory for all Data Entry Operator candidates and no candidate is exempted from appearing in it.

Candidates eligible for a scribe receive 5 minutes of compensatory time, making the test duration 20 minutes.
LDC/JSA Typing Test
The candidate must select the typing-test medium, Hindi or English, in the online application form. The selected medium will be final and cannot be changed later.

Candidates opting for Hindi typing must use Mangal Font only. Candidates eligible for a scribe receive 5 minutes of compensatory time, making the typing-test duration 15 minutes.
Passage dictators will be provided to visually handicapped candidates who have opted for a scribe in the application form. Persons with disabilities who are otherwise eligible for the post and are medically certified as permanently unable to type may seek exemption from the typing test by submitting the prescribed medical certificates in the required format.

Quantitative Aptitude
The Quantitative Aptitude syllabus covers the following areas:
- Number Systems: Computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions; relationship between numbers
- Fundamental Arithmetical Operations: Percentages, ratio and proportion, square roots, averages, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, discount, partnership business, mixture and alligation, time and distance, and time and work
- Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of school algebra, elementary surds and graphs of linear equations
- Geometry: Elementary geometric figures and facts, triangles and their centres, congruence and similarity of triangles, circles and chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords, and common tangents to two or more circles
- Mensuration: Triangle, quadrilaterals, regular polygons, circle, right prism, right circular cone, right circular cylinder, sphere, hemispheres, rectangular parallelepiped, and regular right pyramid with triangular or square base
- Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios, complementary angles, height and distance problems, and standard identities such as sin²θ + cos²θ = 1
- Statistical Charts: Tables and graphs, histograms, frequency polygons, bar diagrams and pie charts
For visually handicapped candidates with 40% or more visual disability, Maps, Graphs, Diagrams and Statistical Data components will not be included in the General Intelligence and Quantitative Aptitude sections.
General Awareness
The General Awareness section is designed to test awareness of the environment and its application to society, current events, everyday observation and scientific aspects expected from an educated person. Questions may relate to India and its neighbouring countries, particularly:

Tier-II Syllabus
Mathematical Abilities
The Mathematical Abilities syllabus includes:

Reasoning and General Intelligence
This section includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning topics such as semantic analogy, symbolic operations, number analogy, trends, figural analogy, space orientation, semantic classification, Venn diagrams, symbolic and number classification, drawing inferences, figural classification, punched hole and pattern folding or unfolding, semantic series, figural pattern folding and completion, number series, embedded figures, figural series, critical thinking, problem solving, emotional intelligence, word building, social intelligence, coding and decoding, and numerical operations.
English Language and Comprehension
The syllabus includes vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and their correct usage. Other topics include:

For comprehension, two or more paragraphs may be provided. At least one paragraph may be based on a book or story, while another may be based on a current-affairs editorial or report.
General Awareness
Questions will test general awareness of the environment, its application to society, current events, everyday observation and scientific aspects. Topics relating to India and neighbouring countries may include History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy and Scientific Research.
Computer Knowledge and Proficiency
The Computer Knowledge syllabus includes the following topics:
- Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit, input and output devices, computer memory, memory organization, backup devices, ports, Windows Explorer and keyboard shortcuts
- Software: Windows operating system and the basics of Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Internet and E-mail: Web browsing and searching, downloading and uploading, management of an e-mail account and e-banking
- Networking and Cyber Security: Networking devices and protocols, network and information security threats such as hacking, viruses, worms and Trojans, and preventive measures
Important Examination Instructions
- The Computer-Based Examination may be conducted in multiple shifts. Scores will be normalized according to the procedure published by the Commission.
- Tentative answer keys will be published after the examination. Candidates may submit online representations within the prescribed time by paying ₹50 per question. The fee is non-refundable.
- Representations submitted through letters, applications, e-mail or any other mode will not be accepted.
- The final answer key will be used for processing the examination result and will be uploaded after declaration of the Computer-Based Examination result.
- The examination schedule is tentative. Any changes will be communicated through the Commission's website.
- There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of scores at any stage or tier of the examination.
- The Skill Test and Typing Test will be evaluated according to the Commission's evaluation guidelines, and errors in the Skill Test will be calculated up to two decimal places.
- It is mandatory to qualify all sections of Tier-II.
